SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT alert! I have something to share with the Station readers/fans that might make you happy. :D As you know, book 3, ‘Dying to Return’ will be out this summer. What you might not know – it will be the conclusion to Piper’s story (for the most part).

BUT, the series will not be ending.

Here’s the announcement part: There will be at least THREE more books – one each for Niles, Kerry-Anne and Mallory. We will learn their backgrounds, their stories about how they ended up at the Station and their first moments there.

I’m excited for this – though a little sad. Piper’s journey isn’t ending, but there are other characters begging for their chance to speak. Since the writer is controlled by said characters, this must be done. :) I hope this makes the fans excited, happy and anxious to know more! :D

July 15, 2012

I sat down at the computer yesterday with my head full of plots, characters and action sequences...and all manners of ways to torture the characters in my next book. This is different from the last two books though, because now there are readers that are invested and waiting patiently for the next chapter to be revealed. From this point on, I must consider readers just as important as the fictional characters I create.

My original problem was deciding how badly I must torture my characters (old and new) but I think the actual problem is considering how badly the book may torture the READERS. So, I'm at a loss. This being the second book of a series, it's officially my first time continuing a story based on the feedback of those who read the first one. The characters they loved or hated, the scenes that freaked them out, or left them hanging…all of that matters more now.

I took a break from writing to sit back and consider what my readers will experience and how, exactly, I want the next journey to unfold for them. And then it dawned on me that every reader is of course different, so the story can't be written with just the audience in mind…it must be written as the story is meant to unfold. Which means…I may have people upset with me in the long run. And I'll probably go through a lot of wine.

So, I will return back to the story and write as I should…from my heart and from my mind, the way the story must be told. But the readers won't be far, I know they are waiting, and some of them know where I live. So yes, I'll tread with caution while still hoping to write one hell of a ride! Wish me luck (and more wine, please)!
