There is too much intimacy of detail and progression of character, memory, and life's calling best told in a longer format. Back to getting the idea for it all.

Forced to take Medieval Studies in college – forced – for what could I learn? it was medieval after all, there was this thin red book - The Art of Courtly Love written in the 12th century about the goings on of Eleanor of Aquitaine's court by a chaplain. Tens of years and girlfriend's later, walking about Los Angeles my date and I walked into an obscure collector's book store. I read a few lines speculating on this court of love, bought it and things started resonating. Books later, I was satisfied I'd read everything about Eleanor and the fine art of love, and there was this great emptiness. This emptiness was the idea for this book, words, scenes, and a web of interaction authors missed about Eleanor's life, family, and a good telling of made this queen of two countries come to be. Besides being the most interesting queen you never knew?

Eleanor of Aquitaine (Aliénor d'Aquitaine 1124*-1204), was both the Queen of France to Louis the Seventh and Queen of England to Henry the Second. That is history.

Her story is of a girl who comes to power as a self-possessed and parentless teenage leader who will challenge traditional definitions of faith, love, justice, and power to estab... Read more of this blog post »

A small masterpiece. There are no marriages or funerals, but there is love and death told by an author with an unwily penchant to explore unconventional passions between people. Last night I finished the last page, but I wasn't finished feeling. It w ...more
