about this author
Nancy Werlin was born and raised in Peabody, Massachusetts, USA and now lives near Boston. She received her bachelor's degree in English from Yale.
Since then, she has worked as a technical writer and editor for several computer software and Internet companies, while also writing fiction. She was a U.S. National Book Award finalist for THE RULES OF SURVIVAL in 2006, and won an Edgar Award for THE KILLER'S COUSIN in 1999.
“An Edgar-award-winning author who writes psychological thrillers with the same depth and punch as Ruth Rendell and Minette Walters with the kind of noirish feel that permeates many of my favorite crime novels. A writer who has a keen understanding of how kids react and feel — who goes for the gut ...more

" MATTHEW'S RULES OF SURVIVAL
1. Sometimes, the people who mean you harm are the ones who say they love you.
2. Fear is your friend. When you feel it, act.
3. Protect the little ones.
4. If you coped before, you can cope now.
5. Always remember: In the end, the survivor gets to tell the story."

"But just now, he'd gotten on his knees and proposed marriage, like in a television commercial for a diamond ring. Except of course they had the roll of duct tape instead, which, when you came to think about it, was a far more practical item. Such a bad mistake it would be, to embark on marriage and adult life without a nice supply of duct tape."

"When you first fall in love, it's supposed to be awful. Awful, uncertain, scary, wonderful, confusing, all at once. That's how you know it's real. You have to care deeply. Passionately. That hurts."

Hi Nancy and I'm trying to at least share a word and greeting but it's getting kind of hard to keep up:)
I do hope this finds you well and thanks for the connect:)
And continued success to you
Sincerely,
Chase Von:)
Hi there, Thanks for the friend add :) I started reading Impossible and literally couldn't put it down until I had finished it. It was truly an amazing book and I just wanted to tell you how much I personally loved it! And what a great idea to use the sound Scarborough Fair... So awesome!
Danielle :)
Hello, Amjed. I'm glad you sent me a note. Thanks for the kind words. I look forward to reading your book -- warmest congratulations! I know just how hard it can be to write and publish that first book. (The second is hard, too... they're all hard, but you don't need to dwell on that now.)All best, Nancy
Nancy,
Hello. I feel weird just dropping you a line, the author I've read and admired and thought, how ingeniously clever in plot and character. NO joke. Thank you for adding me as your friend. Many a nights I struggled to just keep writing, and now, when I finally face the fruits of my labor, this forum provides me the opportunity to say thank you to the many authors whose works have guided me.
Thanks Nancy.
