About this author

Celeste N. De Blasis was a successful American writer of historical-romance novels. She grew up on the Kemper Campbell Ranch in Victorville, California, in the high Mojave Desert. She attended Wellesley College, later transferred to Oregon State University, and in 1968 graduated from Pomona College, near her home. She continued to live on the ranch until her death.

In 1969 De Blasis received the Southern Division National League of Pen Women Award for Letters, for her poetry. In 1975 her first novel "The Night Child" was published, followed the next year by "Suffer A Sea Change" and in 1978 by "The Proud Breed" which became a Doubleday Book Club selection. Her most ambitious and successful work is the "Wild Swan" triliogy (1984-1989).
