Heather lives in Haines, Alaska. She writes obituaries for the Chilkat Valley News and has a new column in Woman's Day. She is the author of the bestselling Alaskan memoir, "If You Lived Here, I'd Know Your Name" (Algonquin, 2005.) Her new book, "Take Good Care of the Garden and the Dogs" (Algonquin) was released in May 2010 and will come out in paperback April 2011. (The title is her mother's last words.)
