Petie spent a large part of her career working as a biologist at Walt Disney World -- "The Most Magical Place on Earth" -- where she enjoyed working in the land of fairy tales by day and creating her own romantic fairy tales by night. She eventually said good-bye to her "day" job in order to write her stories full-time.

Petie shares her home on the beautiful Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee with her horticulturist husband, a spoiled-rotten English Springer spaniel addicted to pimento-stuffed green olives, and a noisy Nanday conure named Sassy who made a cameo appearance in Angel to the Rescue.

I only get "climax block." Don't laugh. It's real. When it's time to write the climactic scene at the finale, I always have a tough time getting it on the page. It's happened with each book. I know what must happen in the scene, but getting it on paper is a different matter. Sometimes it takes a week or more to get it down.(less)

A few scenes with him have already blown through my imagination. When the whole movie arrives, he'll be the next book. Thanks for asking, and I'll keep you posted!(less)

Ms. Maxwell is one of my "go to" authors, and she did not disappoint with this new novel. A very enjoyable read. Although the hero Jack and heroine Char were well written and well characterized, I was even more intrigued by Aunt Sarah and Baynton who ...more

I listened to this book as an unabridged audio and the narration was excellent. The narrator changed character voices with skill. None of the annoying faux British aristocrat accent that comes out like a nasal wheezy mutter.

I love Tessa Dare novels, and this one sucked me in faster than a dust bunny in my vacuum! Had me on the first page. I would give it 8 stars, but GR only allows 5. The story had all my favorite ingredients: quirky independent heroine and a damaged se ...more

The Runner's Enticement is a perfect title, for this regency romance will definitely "entice" the reader to delve into the action and race through to the finish! Ryleigh's second Men of Circumstance novel is easily as good as the first, causing me to ...more

I finally listened to this book on CDs and I say finally because I kept pushing it to the bottom of the "to be Listened" pile because the title was...well, dull. I feared the story would be too. This was an unabridged audio book and the narrator did ...more
