I thought I had met every one I needed to know in this lifetime until DIDI MENENDEZ came on the horizon and then I saw her cue all the muses on Mt. Olympus with her poetry and poets, art and artists. And her own paintings bring something to life that never lived before. She is a genius of our time. I swear this is true.

Didi, children are a joy beyond all belief, aren't they? Maybe one day your daughter might be able to accept your son as a friend if nothing else! They are both the spit of their Mother's eye - do you have that expression over there? My real point is, and I know I thunder these words, PLEASE read the revise Ariel by the redoubtable Ms Plath - my PhD subject - and let me know what you think.
Your voice, as said, enlightens your poems enormously.
Bette Davis, too, is one of my favourites!!
Have a good New Year
John
Your new avatar rocks. Not sure when you changed it, but it's new to me. If I were making films (and I'd love to) I would so cast you.
Merci, and Happy New Year, Didi!I love your portraits! I don't know anybody else doing such great work, and that's such a great tradition in literature. I love the one of Marcus, which I had never seen before!
If I don't respond sometimes to book alerts or something don't think I'm ignoring, because I don't do that....but I have serious computer issues (dinosaur on dial-up here)...it takes my puter like five minutes just to open up Goodreads...I need to upgrade into the 21st century eventually...
Happy to be your Goodreads friend and my best wishes for continued love, prosperity and the addled state we crave called great art!
Time to go look for sauerkraut here...

Thanks for sitting through that video. I've been 15 years in Montgomery, and another 5 before that in the South, so the Yanks I grew up with are struck by my twang. (I only lay it on a little thick, I promise).
No, we're not in Normal Illinois. For a couple years, Night Train got specific-issue sponsorship from different cities that wanted a bigger literary presence. We've always been based in the Boston area, but we went to the different cities and did readings and promotions, that kind of thing. Thanks for the poem comment, too.
