Solipsism (short story) (Drama)
4 chapters   —   updated Jun 13, 2012 09:00am
Description: I hadn't been feeling creative in sometime when I decided to try something new. I asked people - via my facebook status - to mention a word and I would write a whole story on it, no matter what. A friend of mine suggested 'solipsism' and I should point out I didn't even know what it was, so here's what I came up with.

More of Aliaa's books…
“I'm reading a book that actually scares me. It is not a form of fear that is embodied in some irrational phobia of a specific object, living being, or an event, but a fear of words, of actions of beings towards one another, how one word or command wrongly distributed can destroy someone or many people. How following blindly into the paths of something you truly believe is right without any rationale to back it up or the thought of the consequences it can cause may blindly lead others to their death. How in that moment, thinking you're doing it for the right reasons, you ignore all the laws of nature that tell you that human life is sacred and that no one man's ideals can ever compensate for its loss. To have the power to destroy and cause suffering without much care. This is a fear of what humanity is turning into, and such a future truly scares me.”

“Writing is a socially acceptable form of schizophrenia.”
E.L. Doctorow

“I never change, I simply become more myself.”
Joyce Carol Oates, Solstice

“الكاتب الموهوب هو من ينسيك أنك تقرأ، إذ هو يضعك مباشرة في قلب الفعل الحيوي دون مقدمات، يحيلك إلي طرف أصيل في الفعل الفني الذي يبدأ تحلقه بمجرد وقوع بصرك على السطر الأول”
خيري شلبي, كتب وناس

“Noble deeds and hot baths are the best cures for depression.”
Dodie Smith, I Capture the Castle

“My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four. Unless there are three other people.”

Sarah Hi Aliaa, thank you for the friend request! (=

Susie Sexton Thanks for the add!

Dani (Pen to Paper) I've just seen your comment on my profile - I'm glad that you seem to have enjoyed Cinder! I really loved it :)

message 20: by Jill

Jill Swanson haha. I know! Sorry sometimes I forget that it actually replies on my wall.
Oh good!
That's a good idea to do one for each. I look forward to reading them.
Maybe i'll be part of your next tour too! ^^

message 19: by Jill

Jill Swanson Hey Aliaa!
What do you think of the tour so far??
I am liking everyone's posts!

message 18: by Lauren

Lauren (Northern Plunder) Haha so very true, well I'll be sure to keep you updated when I get my work back :)

message 17: by Lauren

Lauren (Northern Plunder) I know how to develop film photographs and also did some pinhole photography and some other dark room techniques and did some screen printing, different painting techniques and just a lot of stuff really :') I'd show you some pieces but they're all in college for marking. I'll get them in August I think so I hope to upload more images then ^^
(it was getting late and I just noticed I replied on MY profile, oops)

message 16: by Lauren

Lauren (Northern Plunder) Yeah I guess it did help a little :3
Ah, I'm an only child so I don't have that trouble!

message 15: by Lauren

Lauren (Northern Plunder) I'm really impatient too which is why I rarely do art in my own time, I go through periods where I will but I have to be really in the mood for it or I know I wont be happy with the outcome.

We had to get our parents permission to do it and I was hoping they'd say no but apparently my college is one of the only ones that does the course and the universities think its an amazing course to pass because the human figure is so difficult to draw and I know none of the work I did was perfect but I definitely created my own style whilst doing it so in the long run it was fun in a way :')

message 14: by Lauren

Lauren (Northern Plunder) Yeah at GCSE I did Art as well as Drama (by force cause everything else clashed), Textiles and History :)
I wish I had the patience to draw faces like that! They're great. The bodies work was seriously some of the hardest things I've done in my life, I'm extremely uncomfortable (maybe go as far as to say have a phobia of?) naked people and to be stood in front of some random naked person for two hours was a task :')

message 13: by Lauren

Lauren (Northern Plunder) I do wish I was forced into a different route because I'm literally sat here at times like ...lolihavenofuture. Yeah I have some of my life drawing uploaded on my tumblr - http://stormofsnow.tumblr.com/tagged/... - scroll down a bit to see and my "photography" is here - http://stormofsnow.tumblr.com/tagged/... :)

message 12: by Lauren

Lauren (Northern Plunder) I draw too, and paint and college. Full mixture of anything arty really ;)

message 11: by Lauren

Lauren (Northern Plunder) I studied Photography, Life Drawing and Double Award Art (and I also did English Lang & Lit for a year) so I'm waiting for my results and then going back to college in September to do an Art Foundation course that will help me decide (and give me extra points) to go to University :) what about you?

message 10: by Lauren

Lauren (Northern Plunder) Good luck with your exams and finding a summer job :)
Yeah I really hope I can find one too. Don't seem to be having much luck so far.

Lauren (Northern Plunder) Yeah I've been off since May 5th-ish and completely free until September unless by some miracle a job falls my way :)
Having time to read and do nothing else is always fun, hope you had a good week off.

Lauren (Northern Plunder) Pretty well, can't complain when its my 3 year anniversary today with the boyfriend and I've gotten a lot of blogging stuff scheduled yesterday :)
& your week? :)

Lauren (Northern Plunder) Hello :)

message 6: by Sarah
