I would go as far to say that E.H. Gombrich's book should be compulsory reading for all high school students and young adults. The book is insightful and utterly depressing. Not so much in its structure or writing style, but because it reinforces man ...more

Doris Kearns Goodwin
“Washington was a typical American. Napoleon was a typical Frenchman, but Lincoln was a humanitarian as broad as the world. He was bigger than his country - bigger than all the Presidents together.

We are still too near to his greatness,' (Leo) Tolstoy (in 1908) concluded, 'but after a few centuries more our posterity will find him considerably bigger than we do. His genius is still too strong and powerful for the common understanding, just as the sun is too hot when its light beams directly on us.' (748)”
Doris Kearns Goodwin, Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln

J.K. Rowling
“If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”
J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”
Mahatma Gandhi

“I'm a greater believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it”
