About this author

An avid fan of myths and fantasy, I have always had a passion for reading and writing. My background includes an M.A. in clinical psychology from Roosevelt University as well as an M.A. in industrial/organizational psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I’ve also achieved PHR (Professional in Human Resources) certification. I instruct adult learners in resume development, and work as a full time recruiting manager. In addition, I am also an amateur cartoonist, having taken classes at the Art Institute of Chicago.

When my writing hits the proverbial wall and I'm bashing my head on my keyboard, I do the opposite - I pull myself completely out - otherwise I feel like I'm forcing myself to write and it no longer feels like a labor of love, but a major hassle! I take a few days off, focus on other hobbies like biking, hiking, working out, and watching movies. When I go back to picking up where I left off, I feel excited, refreshed, and eager to start up again.(less)

A special gift we all share in is the ability to come up with an idea, and to make it tangible, tactile, and real. From my son's painted drawings to developing the idea for a business, to creating a fantasy series of books, it's a wonderful and enthralling process to create something from nothing. If there are any real adventures left to partake in that take you away from the day to day world, it's certainly that.(less)

Well, it’s that magical time of the year – Halloween time! I say magical as Halloween, of course, is on the 31st of October, an “in-between” time between the changing of the seasons, the completion of the harvest, and the prepatory time for the coming winter. All in-between times and places are considered special because they are neither one thing nor another, a combination of both and neither... Read more of this blog post »

A nice take on a fictional encounter between H.P. Lovecraft (one of my favorite authors) and Sherlock Holmes (one of my favorite fictional heroes). The story itself feels like a classic Holmes tale, although here we have a 70+ year old Holmes with Lo...more

Hugo Negron With a tentative release date of summer 2012, I invite you to my first novel, Forging of a Knight (cover design by up and coming illustrator Lora Lee - http://www.loraart.com).

Visit http://www.facebook.com/Forging.of.a.... and "Like" the page to follow the book's progression. It will be available through amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com (iPad, NOOK, and Kindle distribution), and directly through lulu.com and me for hard copy availability.

Here are some excerpts from the back cover:

A battle against the forces of Those That Stand in Shadow brings an end to an old hero and a beginning for a new one. Together with a half-orcne thief named Glaive, a young warrior named Qualtan must battle through undead hordes, shape-shifting maugs, hungry trolls, and more on his journey to become a knight. Along the way, he learns the world isn’t as simple as he first thought. Good and evil are not always what they seem, close friends can be deadly enemies, and loyalty can sometimes be rewarded with treachery. Even if Qualtan can grow from these lessons, a greater one will need to be faced: can an unexpected friendship with a thief of orcne blood, despised by all, support his chance for knighthood, or ruin it altogether?

"I so enjoyed this book! So vivid, so well crafted, I was immersed in the story from the beginning and found it was a very satisfying, entertaining read. So imaginative, there was really not one plot point that I predicted, and that's amazing. The other great thing is the pacing. It really flows quite well, and I didn't feel bogged down in the action ever." - Erin Potter, Shamrock Editing

Thanks for your support!

Best,

- H
