Janice MacDonald is a bestselling Canadian author who is best known for the four novels featuring amateur sleuth Miranda "Randy" Craig. The Randy Craig Mysteries were the first detective series to be set in Edmonton, Alberta, where Janice lives and works. The latest installment, Hang Down Your Head, was published in November 2011 by Ravenstone Books, an imprint of Winnipeg's highly respected Turnstone Press. A fifth Randy Craig adventure is slated for release in 2013.

Born on the side of a mountain in Banff National Park, the daughter of a cowboy from southern Alberta and a schoolteacher who herself had been born in a pioneer log cabin in the Peace River Country, Janice considers herself to be a example of the quintessential Albertan. A dyed...more

The Calm Before the Storm

I have one weekend to go. I intend to get in the car with my husband, drive out of town to our friends' house for a relaxing evening of good food, wine and board games. We may play a bit of music together. I know we'll laugh a lot. And I will enjoy every minute. And boy, will I need it.
