Anne Mendel was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. She did, in fact, attend Mrs. Ashleigh’s Charm School.

Before writing, rewriting and rewriting became her life’s work, she was a community organizer. She never worked with Barack Obama.

She lives with her husband Mark in Portland, Oregon. Her children live back east. Her muse is her dog Humphrey.
