Siriworn Kaewkan was born in Nakhon Si Thammarat (Southern Thailand) on March 8, 1968. He studied Arts in his hometown college and became a full-time independent writer in 1992 after a spell in a political newspaper.

His novels, short stories and poems are mostly concerned with social and political issue.

The Murder Case of Tok Imam Storpa Karde (published in 2006) is his second novel. It focuses on the conflict in the southernmost provinces of Thailand.


In 2004, his collection of short stories Tales from Bangkok received the Outstanding Book Award from the National Book Improvement Committee.

In 2007, Siriworn received the Silpathorn Award for Literature, awarded annually by the Thailand Ministry of Culture's Office of Contemporary Art a
