I was born in England and spent most of my youth growing up in the Essex countryside. It’s a beautiful part of England, up near the Suffolk border, but I was born with a heavy dose of 'travel lust' so as soon as I could get a passport and adventure the world, I packed a rucksack and went exploring!
It was a bit of a risk and my parents weren’t too taken with the idea, but I’m still travelling and have been lucky enough to live and travel in loads of countries all over the world. In fact, I’ve now lived for more years outside of England than I ever spent living there – It is, after all, a great big exciting world!
I’ve worked and trained as a carpenter, and then a house restorer… I’ve picked loads of different types of fruit - from grapes in

I don't really get writers block, or haven't so far.
I get lots of ideas, start writing and some of them don't go past a page or two before I just don't 'feel' that it will work out, but I just move on to another idea.
The books I have written so far, fall into two series: a pure Fantasy with The Flight of the Griffin and Chaos Storm, and Historical Fantasy with Shadowland and now The Shadow of a King. Both series are for readers of about twelve years and up, but as I have many adult readers they arent just YA books. I can just let my imagination run wild!(less)

Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts
"I’ve put off reviewing this book simply because no words of mine can equal this storyteller, this bard. A 1000 years ago he’d be a strolling minstrel. Without a doubt this is the best exposition of the written word I’ve read in 20 years.

An amazing story set in the Inquisitor's Spain of 1491

I love to read historical fiction, especially if it is well written, well researched and well edited. The Errant Flock by Jana Petken is all of this and more.
This is a story set in the darkest day

“Of course I have fear, lad, but it's fear that makes me the most terrifying warrior on the battlefield. More importantly, it's fear that will keep me alive. My love of life is too great to die here today. The secret is not to deny your fear. Everyone on this hill holds fear in his belly. The mark of a warrior is how he deals with it.”

Veronica Dale Thanks for becoming a new friend. Especially one that is living such an interesting life! I write fantasy too, and have a weakness for reading Arthurian tales.
