Elizabeth Letts grew up riding horses in the hills of Southern California. A former Peace Corps volunteer and trained midwife, she now lives near Baltimore in a house where both critters and children abound.




When I was eight:


*she made me polish my own boots and clean my own tack before every show


*when I told her not to stand by the ring whispering “keep your heels down, keep your head up” she was quiet (most of the time.)


*when I won my first blue ribbon, she was there standing proudly at the side of the ring taking my picture.
