About this author

Alexander Thorne was born in 1989 and spends most of his time living in western Michigan. His submitted work has appeared in the e-magazine Phoenix Lore, the short fiction and poetry collection There Are Monsters Everywhere, and in news articles from the Western Herald. His self-published poetry chapbooks are entited Another Mistaken Anima and People I Can't or Won't Have Another Conversation With.

Afternoon.
Finally home.

Coming back late.
I’m at the airport.

Someone says, “Look!
Over there! That airplane

landed. Now look
around us.

This place is full
of people leaving.”

I think back to
when I was overseas

in the airplane. I remember.
Lifting up, then flying,

then landing. And now
this reunion.

My
family says,

“Alex, we’re so happy
that you’re finally back!

Are you ready to go home?”
I say, “I’m ready.
