About this author

Up until four years ago - Natalie hated reading and never wanted to be an author, yet here she is. A little thing called Twilight came along and changed things. After reading the sparkly vamp series, she continued to read more, consuming one vampire story after the next. Then one day she had a dream. One that she couldn't shake. Four days later she typed the dream out, and that became the start of her YA paranormal romance novel, The Keeper.

When Natalie's not reading or writing, she can be found with her husband supporting their two children on the soccer fields. Or maybe running around with her camera taking photos while camping and/or hiking. Or lastly, and most probable - She's watching TV while simultaneously perusing her social media s

“The cloud shot out in my direction. It swirled around in front of me, and it was as if the air danced, testing me, tasting me, feeling me, and it pressed up against my head.”
Natalie Star, The Keeper

“I knelt down to his side. I touched his arm, and got closer to his face to check his breathing. I felt the heat of his breath on my cheek. I smoothed my hand over his forehead pushing his long dark choppy hair aside. His skin was soft. He moaned, and his brown eyes fluttered. I kissed him with a small soft peck on his lips.”
Natalie Star, The Keeper

“Struggling for my life, I gagged. The creature's strength unbelievable. There was nothing I could do. Its face was very close and it opened its mouth. Turning my head the opposite direction, I could feel the heat of breath on my ear. I struggled as hard as I could. It wasn't enough. Its teeth were bearing down on my neck: drool dripped soaking my collar.”

“I'm gonna kill him," Eve said, or at least that was what it sounded like filtered through the pillow.
Stake him right in the heart, shove garlic up his ass, and-and-"

And what?" (Michael)

When did you get home?" Claire demanded.

Apparently just in time to hear my funeral plans. I especially like the garlic up the ass. It's...different.”
Rachel Caine, Feast of Fools

He pointed to himself. "Male and eighteen. What's your point?”
Rachel Caine, Midnight Alley

“Crap, are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

"I'm thinking we have about fifteen vampires and no blood," Claire said. "Is that it?"

"No, I was thinking we're out of chips. Of course that's what I was thinking.”
Rachel Caine, Feast of Fools

“Goodness,' Myrnin said quietly. 'I don't think I should be watching this. I don't think I'm old enough.”
Rachel Caine, Fade Out

“Shane looked down at the staked vamp at his feet. 'Claire?'
'You staked a vampire with a number two pencil.'
'I didn’t actually check the number.'
'Have I told you lately how freaking awesome you are?'
She tried to smile, but her heart was fluttering in her chest now, and not in a good way. 'Compliments later. We really need to get out of here and get to the car. Any ideas?'
'Find another pencil and I’ll pin this one down, too,' Michael said.
'You know how weird that sounds, right?' Shane said. 'Right, never mind. Number two pencil, coming up. Why do I feel like we’re taking a test?”
Rachel Caine, Kiss of Death
