About this author

I'm Steven Hildreth, Jr. I have been writing since the age of eleven, always with the intent of seeing my name on the cover of a book. With the publication of THE FIRST BAYONET, that objective has been realized, and I only plan on moving forward from there.

My goal as a writer is to leave the reader breathless as they follow shooters through gunfights, car chases, and fisticuffs, encountering cunning antagonists and femme fatales as best laid plans go astray. My writing is backed by my experience as an infantryman in the United States Army, during which I served a tour in Iraq in support of Operation: IRAQI FREEDOM.

I hope you enjoy my work! It's only goin...more

Media outlets have either aired narratives that have no factual basis or have lauded the current administration without asking the tough questions... Read more of this blog post »

There are some books that you read through, set it down, say, "That was good," then continue about your life. There are some books that you put down near the beginning because they're so poorly written and/or boring that it would be pulling teeth to...more

“We decry violence all the time in this country, but look at our history. We were born in a violent revolution, and we've been in wars ever since. We're not a pacific people.”

“War has changed.

It's no longer about nations, ideologies, or ethnicity. It's an endless series of proxy battles, fought by mercenaries and machines.

War--and it's consumption of life--has become a well-oiled machine.

War has changed.

ID-tagged soldiers carry ID-tagged weapons, use ID-tagged gear. Nanomachines inside their bodies enhance and regulate their abilities.

Genetic control, information control, emotion control, battlefield control…everything is monitored and kept under control.

War…has changed.

The age of deterrence has become the age of control, all in the name of averting catastrophe from weapons of mass destruction, and he who controls the battlefield, controls history.

War…has changed.

When the battlefield is under total control, war becomes routine.”
David Hayter as Solid Snake

“Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.”
