About this author

Born to extremely violent alcoholic parents, from the age of 10 I was working till 1am peeling potatoes for chip shops to help pay the bills. Just everything that I hoped it was. Empty, desolate, simple with wonderful prose. A beautiful piece of work that is so bleak, yet touching, yet gripping. For 95% of the book it is the same damned thing, and that is where it is a masterclass of writi...more

Unaccustomed Mercy by D.B. Cox
Okay, so – where to start with 'Unaccustomed Mercy'. For a start, I am not a fan of short story collections. Probably because I have read some crap, from big names like Will Self-indulgent.
This though, reads like a Tom Waits album, just so much depth...more
