One day in her childhood, Melanie Rose told herself a story about the apple she was eating. It was a planet, inhabited by one tiny man-like creature who kept having to move house as his various residences were devoured by a giant alien. It was a tragedy, of course, ending in the planet's destruction, but the author has been telling herself stories ever since.

Melanie Rose currently resides in Chewelah, Washington, with her husband, singer/songwriter Aaron Gabriel, their dog Leo, and a hedgehog named Ferdinand. She loves to dance and travel. Her debut novel, Ashford, was awarded the B.R.A.G. Medallion in 2012, and its companion story, Violet Shadows, is the 2013 winner of the Novella category for the Next Generation Indie Book Awards.

On this day one year ago I saw my husband for the last time. I didn't lose him, like a pair of sunglasses or the spare house key. He didn't leave me, for there was no abandonment. We said goodbye that morning like any other, but more carelessly. It was a Friday, a short workday for him. He would be home in a few hours. But he wasn't.

I never saw him again, in life, that is. I see him often, tho... Read more of this blog post »

Ashford by Melanie Rose
"I so loved this book! I love quite a few it's true, but this is one of the best historical fiction/romance that I have read in a while. It is based before and during WWII. A young American girl is stranded in Europe. You will smile, laugh, and cry..." Read more of this review »

"This book was a bit slow to get into for me personally; however, the authors ability to paint a picture for the reader more than made up for this the further in I went. I felt that I really got to know the main character and could not only visuali..." Read more of this review »
