About this author

K. B. Hoyle is an author, a creative writing teacher, and a former classical history teacher who uses her knowledge of the ancient and medieval worlds to pen fantasy tales for young adults. She has been married since the age of twenty to the love of her life, with whom she has three wonderful little boys. Her quest to write inspiring fiction began at the age of eleven when she started her first fantasy novel. The pen truly is mightier than the sword, and K. B. has always viewed her writing as a way to introduce truth, beauty, and goodness into the hearts and minds of young people.

K. B. is currently writing the Young Adult Fantasy series The Gateway Chronicles, and Breeder, the first in her New Adult Dystopian trilogy, and she never stops b

Don't wait around for lightning to strike; take action to make yourself sit down and do it. If you consider yourself "aspiring," evaluate why that is. Do you actual want to write, or do you just enjoy the idea of it? There are a lot of people out there who enjoy the idea of it who don't have a real writing bone in their bodies. I say if you are meant to be a writer, you have to sit down and write. And if you don't know where or how to begin, research the craft, get inspiration from your favorite authors, and ask trusted people to hold you accountable. On top of my writing career, I teach full time, am married and raising three (about to be four) small children, manage my household, and maintain a speaking and touring schedule. If I can find time to write, anybody can! MAKE your dream a reality, don't just sit around waiting for it to drop into your lap. (less)

Today on the Virtual Cookie Exchange, I'd like to introduce you to a recipe created by my sister-in-law: White Chocolate Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies!

I chose this recipe not just because my sister-in-law is crazy brilliant in the kitchen (which she is), but because it ties in nicely with my newest release, Breeder.

More of K.B.'s books…
“Most boys her age spent half their free time playing video games, but Tellius spent all of his in adult pursuits like fighting, managing, ruling, and delegating, and it showed. If she’d begun to think he was attractive last year, she now wondered how she ever could have found him anything but attractive. As she took in his square jaw, straight aristocratic nose, intense green-flecked eyes, and that ever-present smattering of freckles, Darcy felt her ears grow warm. She looked down at the flagstones.

K.B. Hoyle, The Enchanted

“I get a warm feeling among my books.”
Anthony Powell

“I really feel that we're not giving children enough credit for distinguishing what's right and what's wrong. I, for one, devoured fairy tales as a little girl. I certainly didn't believe that kissing frogs would lead me to a prince, or that eating a mysterious apple would poison me, or that with the magical "Bibbity-Bobbity-Boo" I would get a beautiful dress and a pumpkin carriage. I also don't believe that looking in a mirror and saying "Candyman, Candyman, Candyman" will make some awful serial killer come after me. I believe that many children recognize Harry Potter for what it is, fantasy literature. I'm sure there will always be some that take it too far, but that's the case with everything. I believe it's much better to engage in dialog with children to explain the difference between fantasy and reality. Then they are better equipped to deal with people who might have taken it too far.”
J.K. Rowling
