About this author

Alyson wrote her debut novel, Charlinder's Walk, during a Peace Corps assignment in Albania, where she learned the vagaries of language barriers, culture shock, and teaching English to high school students. It is no coincidence, then, that her first protagonist is a curious, determined young adult who travels the world while having no idea what he's getting into.

Since coming home in 2008, Alyson has accomplished a complete rough draft of a women's fiction novel, an outline and beginning of a dystopian LGBT/feminist work, and is currently working on a plan for an urban fiction involving a ghost story.

She lives in Maryland with her computer and a great deal of knitting yarn, and thinks of genres as "guidelines." Every Sunday, she posts a sa...more
