About this author

Stephen has done a little bit of everything in his life. A little school, a little college, a little death metal, a lot of comic books and a whole lot of violence. Now... let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's build up the momentum for you. He owned a comic book store by the name of Hooked on Comics for several years before the industry imploded. Luckily, he got out when the getting was good. Then he became a world famous video pirate for 7 years and turned it into a world-class underground video store in Ybor City FL by the name of Video Mayhem. The next logical step was to get into the movie business. That's when Unearthed Films was born back in 2001.

With his savvy looks and reputation. Stephen took Unearthed Films into uncharted territo...more

I just got a call a couple of days ago from Burbank California. I have a couple of film producers interested in making HELLUCINATION into a movie. Their talking big money and are going to start shopping it around, looking for a director. As you know, I'm in the movie business so I'm not holding my breath but it was fun to know because they hunted me down. Nice thing is, their going to be handin... read more »

Hellucination (Horror)
1 chapters   —   updated Oct 17, 2011 04:22pm
Description: drug-fueled trip through the gruesome levels of Hell may sound like a fictional horror story to some, and since the traveler in question was movie distributor Stephen Biro, it could just as easily have been one of his film projects. But Stephen's experiences were the real, life-changing sort. They're also proof that the Lord does work in mysterious ways -- extending all the way to squares of LSD and nitrous oxide cartridges. Armed with psychedelics, hallucinogenics and a brave desire to meet God no matter the personal cost, Stephen pushed beyond the boundaries of safe drug use. He took the most nightmarish of trips from a cramped one-bedroom apartment that he used for running his underground video business. With initial difficulty finding God in his altered state, Stephen instead encountered depravity and grotesquery enough to make his soul weep, but he pushed on. And if that wasn't bad enough, his Hellish experiences bled over into his waking days, and his friends and acquaintances began identifying themselves to him as Antichrists, deities and other assorted beings from "the other side." Reality was blurring and shifting, and Stephen was run utterly ragged. Could he fulfill his quest to learn universal truths before his extreme drug use took its toll?

“Imagine your life is a big canvas. Picture it in your mind and think about the beginnning of your painting of life. You're fourteen yours old, and you are lucky if you have one seventh painted. Now imagine the rest of the canvas is totaly empty. Every day you live, and every month and every year, means another inch that is painted on that canvas. You're going to be painting this empty canvas with your life and when you get to the end of it, what is that painting going to look like?”

“God's green earth can no longer sustain itself for those who worship the golden calf. Those who have put this planet in jeopardy shall no longer live. We have been working hard for this day to come and we have help from every God-fearing being on this planet. Many will say they believe, when in their hearts, they truly worship Mammon.”
Stephen Biro, Hellucination

“The Id and the Superego are more scientific ways of considering the Devil and God, or your personal angels and demons. Science has turned the relationship between God, the Devil and you into a viewpoint for all to understand without the framework of religious belief to sidetrack the layperson into another realm of thinking.”

“A lot of the people who read a bestselling novel, for example, do not read much other fiction. By contrast, the audience for an obscure novel is largely composed of people who read a lot. That means the least popular books are judged by people who have the highest standards, while the most popular are judged by people who literally do not know any better. An American who read just one book this year was disproportionately likely to have read ‘The Lost Symbol’, by Dan Brown. He almost certainly liked it.”

Thank you for finding my book and meeting me. I know it's different then what everyone can think it is going to be. That's what me and Clive were talking about. Heaven and Hell and understanding of such.

Kim Hey Stephen!

We met at the horror convention in Orlando and I wanted to say, thanks for the limited edition of your book. I'm getting ready to read it and I'm really looking forward to it! I have to finish Clive Barkers Weaveworld that I bought at the show and had signed.

I have to ask you. I saw you talking to Clive at the end of the show and I knew he lost his voice and wasn't talking much but he was whispering in your ear a lot. I already bought both of your books... would you tell me what you two were talking about?

Stephen Biro I remember you! Hope your kids aren't still zombies! That was a fun convention. Glad you enjoyed my book and thanks for the review.

As far as big publishers go... I wasn in talks with a couple of agents but since hte book couldn't be pigion holed into a specific genre, they were passing. It's even hard for me to find a genre to stick it in on Amazon. LOL Who knows... if it sells well enough and word on it gets out, then maybe I can be lucky.

But with so many books out there and since this is my 1st book, I'll need a lot to read it and tell others. Hopefully, everyone does, especially if they really enjoy it.

Thanks again for buying the book and for the review. Let me know what your husband thinks!

Kelly Dear Mr. Biro,

We met at the Screamfest convention and I was one of the people you shocked into silence when talking about your book on one of the author panels. I had two kids, 4 and 6 dressed up like zombies and I bought one of the limited edition versions of the book from you.

I just wanted to say, thank you for writing your book. It touched me, scared me and shocked me while making me think about my life and where I was headed. You ook was so intense and I could imagine how it was for you when you were doing that. My husband is reading it now and I can hear him laugh from the living room. I told him he has to read it.

I know your self publishing it but do you think it will ever be sold through a major publisher? It's the type of book that everyone needs to know about.

I'm glad I found you on goodreads. Thanks for acceepting my friendship.

I just finished your book..."

Thanks and yes... I do remember you. :-) It was a small signing but i'm glad you enjoyed the book or should I say, my life. LOL I started a Q and A for it already but not many people have read it yet that are on Goodreads. Since I self published it through my dvd company, it doesn't have mainstream distribution like major publishing houses have so it will take time for the Q and A to actually kick into gear.

Glad your giving it to someone else. That's what I am hoping for, the internet spread and sharing of what I went through.

Thank you so much!

Reader Girl Hey Stephen! I don't know if you remember me but we met at teh book signing and I bought a copy of your book and you turned me onto Goodreads. Thank you so much for that.

I just finished your book and I had to tell you. It is amazing! I wasn't prepared for it actually. Reading about your life, the brutal honesty you portrayed was so refreshing. The description of what you experienced hit me on so many levels that it made my head swim. To be honest, it's the most intense book I have ever read and I wasn't expecting it. As a Christian I was amazed at how nothing deviated from the Bible and your meeting with God was perfect and now that I read it twice now... I know... I just had to resoak it in because the 1st time was so mind blowing and so deep that re-reading it even showed me a deeper level I'm not used to seeing in a book.

I'm giving your book to a friend who needs it and I'm going to tell everyone I know about it. This is the type of book that everyone needs to read once in their life.

Are you going to have a Q and A for it? I have so many questions but feel like a dork about it.
