About this author

Gloria Smith has always loved to sing and write. It is her passion and her joy. She has had her poetry published in many anthologies and local newspapers, and has written poetry since she was a child.

She was born in the small town of Ashland, KY in 1955. Leading a very sheltered life made it difficult for her to adjust to marriage and all that life brought to her.

Her poetry was a way to cope with her frustrations and fears. She found release in her poetry and music.

Her poems are full of pain, but also full of the love of love itself, full of hope and delicious mystery. To read her work is to delve into the realm of the human heart with all its joy and sorrow.
It is a fascinating and curious adventure that draws you deeper and deeper into th...more

"Got to go sing in a few minutes... no, that's GOT to go sing in a few minutes, as in... GOT TO GO SING in a few minutes... hahaha It's an all consuming compassion/obsession... a drawing... a wonderful bliss... a union of soul and spirit, of notes and voice, of all of life's vibrating essence. String theory... all of life is vibrating, is alive, and the life of that essence is music itself!!"Gloria Smith
"Sometimes the emptiness in a room becomes palpable as if you could reach out and touch it real, hear its silence, feel its black nothingness. It invades your spirit, your soul like a stealthy misperception; a liquid lie that whispers and will not die, and makes you fight to stay alive."Gloria Smith

“My mind begs for you in the soft, secret, silent places of the night... I thirst for you and without you my soul is a desert. I thought when I first met you, first saw you, that I loved you more than any woman had ever loved a man, but now I know the feeling only grows within me. You are the song I sing each day, each moment, each second. You are the melody of my life...”

“When I think of you, some times my heart leaps right out my chest, and goes running around the room dancing!!”

“A thousand souls could not tear your heart from me...”

“Awww... and so it is... Beauty fades away but while you have it, use it well, wear it well. It is a treasure to be spent quickly before the magic spell is broken...”

“Perhaps Sadness will use the shimmering wings of the morning kissed with dew and promise to sail away, and the dark Heart of the Night will rush headlong into the blinding light of the Day, to kiss it full and hard upon the mouth and embrace life's brilliance once more...”
