Bill Blume discovered his love for the written word while in high school and has been writing ever since. His latest book Gidion's Blood is now available from Diversion Books.

His first novel, Gidion's Hunt (originally titled Tales of a 10th Grade Vampire Hunter), was released in 2013. His short stories have been published in many fantasy anthologies and various ezines.

Just like the father figure in his first novel, Bill works as a 911 dispatcher for Henrico County Police and has done so for more than a decade. He served as the 2013 chair for James River Writers, which produces one of the nation's best annual conferences for educating and connecting writers.

He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Broadcast Journal

Really glad you've enjoyed the books so far. I do want to tell much more with Gidion and that back story. Jun (aka Blood) is among those side characters I'd love to explore more, maybe even a novella to detail how she became a vampire and found her unique profession (although, the short story with her in The Deadlands does reveal a bit of that). Certainly, Gidion's Dad offers a lot of rich story to explore, too. As for Gidion, he certainly can't give up the hunt. It's too deep a part of who he is to stop, and there are other hunters out there I'd love to introduce into the larger story.

The sad truth, though, is that there are no immediate plans for more "Gidion Keep, Vampire Hunter" books. I won't abandon Gidion completely, but unfortunately, my publisher needs to see more interest from readers before they'll give the green light for a third book. So, please push the word-of-mouth promotion. I can't thank my readers enough for the interest they've shown. For now, I am working on some other young adult novels that I'll be shopping around soon, and one of those projects could very easily see Gidion make an appearance if it also becomes a series.

Thanks for reading, Ashley! And happy hunting!(less)

I plant my ass in a chair, open the manuscript on my laptop, and tell that lousy bastard to get lost. Writer's block usually comes from when I've taken a wrong turn in a story, but the worst thing I can do at that point is to stop writing. Usually, the better option is to force the matter.

I’ve spent the past week going through some of the worst Draculas to ever appear in film or on television. For the most part, I’ve limited it to the more well-known performances like Gary Oldman (Bram Stoker’s Dracula) and Richard Roxburgh (Van Helsing). For my #1 worst Dracula, I’m going a little more art house for a truly dreadful chapter in the media unlife of the king of the vampires. I bri...

Bill Blume is on page 135 of 296 of Beastly Bones: Really is fun to be back with Jackaby and Rook. I will admit to some difficulty tracking the new faces so far, but I think that has more to do with me reading a few pages, pausing to do things, and then resuming reading.
