Still magic after all these years.

I first read this book when I was Sara's age, and was warmed and charmed by the story. Rereading it now I find it still holds the magic it did when I was seven, though the denouement is less believable than it was; I

More of A.J.'s books…
“No matter how dire a situation may be, I can always find the humor in it somewhere. If I was ever in a horror movie I would be the goofy one who doesn't seem to know quite what's going on but survives to the end with witty one-liners.”
A.J. Rose

“Life wasn't always easy, but sometimes in the difficulty, there was unequaled grace in the world.”
A.J. Rose

“Gavin, we're going to grow old together, and whether you pick up a gardening hobby, or learn to make your own sushi, or even decide to learn an instrument, I will be right there with you, growing with you. We'll share our whole lives, our quirks and bad habits. It's not just learning your past and who you are today; its getting to see who you'll become tomorrow. I want to be there for that.”

Gail Carson Levine

“There's nothing wrong with reading a book you love over and over. When you do, the words get inside you, become a part of you, in a way that words in a book you've read only once can't.”
Gail Carson Levine, Writing Magic: Creating Stories that Fly

“The Writer's Oath

I promise solemnly:

1. to write as often and as much as I can,

2. to respect my writing self, and

3. to nurture the writing of others.

I accept these responsibilities and shall honor them always.”
Gail Carson Levine, Writing Magic: Creating Stories that Fly

“When I write, I make discoveries about my feelings.”
Gail Carson Levine, Writing Magic: Creating Stories that Fly

“It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all - in which case, you fail by default.”
J.K. Rowling
