About this author

A.G. Howard was inspired to write SPLINTERED while working at a school library. Her pastimes are reading, rollerblading, gardening, and family vacations which often include impromptu side trips to 18th century graveyards or condemned schoolhouses to appease her overactive muse.

SPLINTERED & UNHINGED, books 1 & 2 of her urbanized /gothic Alice in Wonderland series, are now available from Amulet Books. Book 3, ENSNARED, launches 2015.

The title of the antho is Slasher Girls and Monster Boys (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...), and the stories are inspired by horror films, both classical and modern. There are tons of wonderful authors contributing, including but not limited to Leigh Bardugo, Marie Lu, and Carrie Ryan.

I’m also editing a new-adult novel with paranormal elements that my agent and I plan to submit to publishers sometime this year in hopes of finding a home for it.

And I've started a standalone Phantom of the Opera YA spinoff that I really love.(less)

Hi there! Great question. Someone else asked it recently. ;)

Part of the answer is a bit of a spoiler for Splintered, so steer clear of this first part if you haven't read Splintered!!

***SPOILER for book 1***

<spoiler>The real name of netherlings cannot be spoken with any tongue other than by a netherling who's dying and intends to curse the one responsible for her demise, aka Deathspeak. So unless Alyssa were to die at Morphues's hand, she couldn't speak his real name or know it. It's a power that comes just in that instant of vulnerability before the victim's last breath.</spoiler>

***SPOILER over***

Since Netherlings' names are made up of life forces, and are not translatable by any human language, we ourselves will never get to hear/ learn it, since we are all human. ;)

The closest we can come is to know what life forces make up Morpheus. And that is answered in the Splintered excerpt I used for this tumblr post: http://aghowardwrites.tumblr.com/post...

Thanks for the question! :)(less)

*waves* Thank you for the awesome message! Yes, at one time I wanted to be a fashion designer, so I pay very close attention to what my characters wear. ;) So glad you enjoy that! Also, I've had a lot of experience sewing. Even won some ribbons in the county fair for dresses a few years ago. :D Looking forward to sharing Ensnared soon! ;) Nice to meet you.

No, actually, my friends laugh and keep encouraging me, some back away slowly, and my parents worry that I'm losing it.

WELLLLl... first, thanks for accepting my friend request! I'm like mentally cheering here, trying to look calm. :D :) WEll, I love your books, and this will sound weird but... I'm really not on a side when it comes with Jeb, and Morpheus. I like both. If I had to choose... totally Morpheus, but other wise... you know, I think Alyssa would be good on her own too! :D Smiles! :) Tasha

WatermeLoonie Hey! I just want to say I loooooove your books (especially the parts you have based from the Alice in Wonderland books.) The plot is just... amazing and may I just say, the way you describe Alyssa's dresses? My heart throbs with every word, they make me long for them (something, I can assure you, that has rarely ever happened in my life.) Have you previously been a fashionista or dress expert or such? It's just.... you seem so experienced! Anyway, yeah. Cannot wait for Ensnared especially with that ending from Unhinged. Nice commenting to you, :)
