The Coven: Unimpressed (Romance)
2 chapters
—
updated 22 gen. 20:23
Description:
It's been over three months since the Coven was formed, and Caley Leora's troubles are just beginning. As the co-leader of the island's teen witches, she's got to figure out whether or not leading them on a witch hunt of their own is worth the risk or not. The upside is she's not in it alone, Shia's there to help her. The fact that they're both witches makes getting along easy, but there's still the matter of Bane. Everyone insists that he's no good, and the fact that he comes from the bloodline of dark magic doesn't help him any. But Caley can't resist the strange attraction she has for him, even as her relationship with Shia grows stronger. They still don’t know why both of them dreamed of her before they met, or what Bane’s dad plans on doing with all his stolen power. Magic might be able to help her catch an evil power hell bent on taking over the coven, but in the end figuring out who she’s really meant to be with is all up to her.
This is book two in the, The Coven trilogy.

“I tortured people…” she said.
“When it was necessary,” he agreed. “And you killed as well. If this had happened then, Keegan wouldn’t still be alive. But you were never heated about it. You wouldn’t let someone push your buttons. You didn’t even have buttons that could be pushed.”

“Sometimes we fall in love and end up losing ourselves. We allow ourselves to become different people. But we have choices, Lily. We can choose to find the person we used to be, the person we really are. Or we can continue on as this new being."

“Your existance hinders on no one but yourself. Only you can write your destiny. Fate is a mere parlor trick designed to coax you into believing otherwise. There is always a choice.”

“A dog has no use for fancy cars or big homes or designer clothes. Status symbol means nothing to him. A waterlogged stick will do just fine. A dog judges others not by their color or creed or class but by who they are inside. A dog doesn't care if you are rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart and he will give you his. It was really quite simple, and yet we humans, so much wiser and more sophisticated, have always had trouble figuring out what really counts and what does not. As I wrote that farewell column to Marley, I realized it was all right there in front of us, if only we opened our eyes. Sometimes it took a dog with bad breath, worse manners, and pure intentions to help us see.”

“Hope can be a powerful force. Maybe there's no actual magic in it, but when you know what you hope for most and hold it like a light within you, you can make things happen, almost like magic.”

“We all know how it says it’s going to end, Dreamer, but no one knows for sure. That’s up to you, and your friends. It is the Four who shall decide whether or not it comes true, not a bunch of words written on a piece of paper. Not even,” he turned the book around so that its insides were facing her, “if it’s written in on very old, very large, dusty paper.”
