About this author

I call myself The Grandma Moses of Mystery. Although I've previously published short stories and articles, my first book was published a month before my eightieth birthday.

The original Grandma Moses was an American folk artist who began painting in her late seventies. She created hundreds of rural scenes that eventually graced everything from greeting cards to curtains, cookie jars to coffee ads, and museum walls. She painted until her death at one hundred one years. Since my mother is now one hundred two years old, I have the genes to be just as active writing mysteries!

I just read a list of first lines in the May issue of The Writer. These were, of course, for the edification (Don't you just love that word?) of the writer. I am a writer, but first I'm a reader. One thing I absolutely love is that first paragraph of a new book. Hesitantly, I pull a volume from the shelf, look at the cover, both front and back, read the blurb, then...open to the first page.

If you like your cozies laugh-out-loud crazy, this is the book for you. The plot keeps surprising the reader with unusual characters, their goings-on, and more twists than a pretzel. Couldn't guess who-dun-it, not at all.
