Since Amazon announced KDP Select, which allows you to have your book included in a lending program but requires 90 days exclusivity for your book (so it can't be sold on other sites or from your own web site), I've been considering temporarily removing Rock Star's Girl from sites other than Amazon and enrolling in KDP Select to test it out.

As I consider this, though, I wanted to ask both readers and other authors how they feel about KDP Select. From the reader perspective especially, would you be willing to read a book available only on Amazon (for both Kindle devices and Kindle apps, and also available in paperback), or is this a turn-off or frustrating experience?

To my fellow authors, I pose these questions: Have you enrolled in KDP Select? And if you have, do you have any experiences to share?

If you're a reader or an author with thoughts, opinions, or experiences to share, please leave a comment or send me a message or email (emails can be sent to info[AT]jfkristin[DOT]com). I'm curious to read any and all feedback on this!

Wishing you all very happy holidays. :)

I'm excited to announce that Rock Star's Girl is free for Kindle until December 30! If you'd like to download it for free, you can get it at Amazon US, Amazon UK, Amazon Germany, Amazon France, Amazon Italy, and Amazon Spain.

If you don't have a Kindle but want to download Rock Star's Girl for free, Amazon has free downloads of Kindle reading applications for Windows PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, Android, and Windows Phone 7. Download a free Kindle reading app from Amazon.

A special thank you goes out to everyone who has tweeted, posted, or shared news of the free promotion. I appreciate you all helping me get the word out, and feel very lucky that so many of you shared the pre-announcement before the free promotion began. Thank you so much!

Another special thank you goes out to Kaley Stewart who listed Rock Star's Girl in her Top Ten Reads of 2011 on her blog, Books Etc. I feel incredibly honored to be listed there, and encourage you all to check out the other books on Kaley's list.

Wishing everyone the very best during these last few days of 2011, and a very happy new year.

Is it really February already? It looks like 2012 is going to fly by the same way 2011 did. Remember to savor moments as the pace of life picks up, so everything isn't just one big race or blur. :) I'm lucky that I've already had some great moments this year, one of which I haven't yet mentioned on my blog.

On New Year's Eve, I was out at the Laugh Factory, ready to ring in 2012 with lots of laughs. At around 10 o'clock, I happened to look at the sales rank for Rock Star's Girl on Amazon, just to see where it would end the year. Imagine my surprise and absolute delight to see that it was on three Amazon US category bestseller lists, including the Women's Fiction bestseller list! It was also on a category bestseller list over at Amazon UK. It stayed on those lists for a few days into the new year, which had me absolutely ecstatic. Thank you to everyone out there who has made this lifelong dream come true. You're all amazing.

This was my company on the Amazon US Women's Fiction Bestseller list on New Year's Day:

I'd be lying if I said that seeing this didn't make me grin from ear to ear. What a way to begin 2012!

And now, a book update for you all: I've been working a lot on my second novel, and the draft of it should be done by mid-March. It's exciting to be at this point in the writing of it. This is the part of the process where I'm not updating Twitter or Facebook as much. I'm checking in once in a while, though, and I'll be back to checking in more often in a few weeks.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful first month of 2012, and that February is also full of love and light.
