I don't know about you, but when I scroll through my news feed on Facebook or read through tweets on Twitter, I love and appreciate happy, positive posts and tweets. Spreading sunshine and positivity is a great way to use these tools, and also a great way to use our blogs. That's why I've decided to post a happy thought or quote at least once a week, in the hopes that you like them too!
Today's happy thought:
Wishing everyone in the US a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, and a wonderful weekend to everyone everywhere else! Over here, I'm happy to be playing with Pico, spending some time with friends, working on Hiding Out in Hollywood, setting up my manuscript editing web site (stay tuned!), reading some delightfully fun chick lit, and enjoying some Kundalini yoga. Love and light, and have a great weekend!
Today's happy thought:

This weekend is all about writing. I've been writing the sequel to Rock Star's Girl, along with writing a novel in a different genre, and outlining a non-fiction book. I can't wait to share each of these with all of you. I'm also about to finish up my post for the Chick Lit Author Blog Hop, which begins this Monday, May 14. Lots going on! If you haven't heard about the CLA Blog Hop yet, you can read about it over at fellow author Tracie Banister's blog. The blog hop celebrates International Chick Lit Month, and as of right now, 34 of chick lit authors (including me) are taking part. You can enter to win chick lit ebooks and a Sephora gift card! I'm very excited about next week. :) (Special note for my Goodreads blog post: my post for the blog hop will be posted on my web site blog only, so please look for it there!)
I'm also very excited to share the title of the sequel to Rock Star's Girl. One reason I'm excited is because it means I'll no longer need to call it "the sequel to Rock Star's Girl," which is kind of a mouthful, don't you think? So here it is, the title of Emily's next adventures... Hiding Out in Hollywood is the title of the sequel to Rock Star's Girl, and will pick up in the time between the last chapter and prologue of Rock Star's Girl, so you'll find out what happened in the three months between the last chapter and prologue, and what happens next!
So, what's the release date? Right now it's set for late 2012. There's lots to do over the coming months, and I can't wait for every moment of it.
Wishing you all a fantastic weekend, and a very happy Mother's Day tomorrow to all the moms out there! Love and light.

April 22, 2012
New beginnings happen in spring, and I'd have to say this is definitely the case for me. First, a piece of news that I'm so very thankful and grateful many of you have asked for: I'm now writing the sequel to Rock Star's Girl. I hadn't realized just how much I'd missed these characters until I started writing the sequel. I started it earlier this week and I've been writing for most of today. I have to say, it's been a fantastic Sunday!
Second, I moved about a month ago (still in L.A.!), and am loving my new home. That did have me pretty busy for a while, which meant few updates. I'm back now, though, and am looking forward to chatting with everyone here, and on Facebook and Twitter.
And now for more fabulous news... can you hear the virtual drum roll? I'll be taking part in a blog hop next month, in celebration of International Chick Lit Month. I'll post more about this in the weeks ahead. If you're a chick lit author and would like more info, please get in touch with me and I can put you in touch with the wonderful author organizing it.
Hope you've all had a great weekend. Love and light. :)

February 1, 2012
Is it really February already? It looks like 2012 is going to fly by the same way 2011 did. Remember to savor moments as the pace of life picks up, so everything isn't just one big race or blur. :) I'm lucky that I've already had some great moments this year, one of which I haven't yet mentioned on my blog.
On New Year's Eve, I was out at the Laugh Factory, ready to ring in 2012 with lots of laughs. At around 10 o'clock, I happened to look at the sales rank for Rock Star's Girl on Amazon, just to see where it would end the year. Imagine my surprise and absolute delight to see that it was on three Amazon US category bestseller lists, including the Women's Fiction bestseller list! It was also on a category bestseller list over at Amazon UK. It stayed on those lists for a few days into the new year, which had me absolutely ecstatic. Thank you to everyone out there who has made this lifelong dream come true. You're all amazing.
This was my company on the Amazon US Women's Fiction Bestseller list on New Year's Day:

I'd be lying if I said that seeing this didn't make me grin from ear to ear. What a way to begin 2012!
And now, a book update for you all: I've been working a lot on my second novel, and the draft of it should be done by mid-March. It's exciting to be at this point in the writing of it. This is the part of the process where I'm not updating Twitter or Facebook as much. I'm checking in once in a while, though, and I'll be back to checking in more often in a few weeks.
I hope everyone has had a wonderful first month of 2012, and that February is also full of love and light.

I'm excited to announce that Rock Star's Girl is free for Kindle until December 30! If you'd like to download it for free, you can get it at Amazon US, Amazon UK, Amazon Germany, Amazon France, Amazon Italy, and Amazon Spain.
If you don't have a Kindle but want to download Rock Star's Girl for free, Amazon has free downloads of Kindle reading applications for Windows PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, Android, and Windows Phone 7. Download a free Kindle reading app from Amazon.
A special thank you goes out to everyone who has tweeted, posted, or shared news of the free promotion. I appreciate you all helping me get the word out, and feel very lucky that so many of you shared the pre-announcement before the free promotion began. Thank you so much!
Another special thank you goes out to Kaley Stewart who listed Rock Star's Girl in her Top Ten Reads of 2011 on her blog, Books Etc. I feel incredibly honored to be listed there, and encourage you all to check out the other books on Kaley's list.
Wishing everyone the very best during these last few days of 2011, and a very happy new year.

Since Amazon announced KDP Select, which allows you to have your book included in a lending program but requires 90 days exclusivity for your book (so it can't be sold on other sites or from your own web site), I've been considering temporarily removing
Rock Star's Girl
from sites other than Amazon and enrolling in KDP Select to test it out.
As I consider this, though, I wanted to ask both readers and other authors how they feel about KDP Select. From the reader perspective especially, would you be willing to read a book available only on Amazon (for both Kindle devices and Kindle apps, and also available in paperback), or is this a turn-off or frustrating experience?
To my fellow authors, I pose these questions: Have you enrolled in KDP Select? And if you have, do you have any experiences to share?
If you're a reader or an author with thoughts, opinions, or experiences to share, please leave a comment or send me a message or email (emails can be sent to info[AT]jfkristin[DOT]com). I'm curious to read any and all feedback on this!
Wishing you all very happy holidays. :)

Just a quick note to say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the U.S. who celebrates, and a very happy Thursday, Friday, and weekend for those outside of the U.S. who either had Thanksgiving in October, or who don't celebrate it. This year and always, I am truly thankful to all of you out there who made writing and publishing
Rock Star's Girl
possible, and to everyone who has taken a chance on reading my book. Love and light to all of you.
It's a beautiful Thursday morning here. My dog, Pico, is laying beside me on the comfy red couch as I type and sip from a steaming mug of coffee. I just put a spaghetti squash in the oven, a side dish for Thanksgiving dinner later on today. I definitely miss the summer weather, but you have to admit, there's something very special about this time of year.
Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday (or weekend)!

First, I'd like to send a huge thank you out to Chick Lit Central for the very fun interview I did with them that was posted earlier this week, and for hosting a giveaway contest for Rock Star's Girl! (Deadline for entry is 11/13 at midnight EST.) Thank you to everyone who has entered so far, and I look forward to sending out books to the winners!
And second... I hope everyone had a fantastic 11/11/11! :)
This weekend has really been about focusing a lot more on my second novel, which is something I'm quite happy to announce. The weather appears to be cooperating with my lock-myself-in-a-room-and-write-for-hours plan, since it's been pretty gray and cold the last couple of days. Fireplace, candles, hot chocolate, and a manuscript coming to life. Maybe I'm tapping into some of the NaNoWriMo vibes, although I'm not doing NaNoWriMo. I like to use November as a time to fully focus on whatever stage my manuscript is at, though, to get it to the next stage before the year ends. In this case, it will be getting the first draft completed, and ready to tackle revisions in the new year.
Sending good writing vibes to everyone out there participating in NaNoWriMo. And to everyone out there who isn't taking part in NaNoWriMo, but who is working on writing, I also send you good writing vibes. I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

Wow, it's been a full month since my last blog update. How'd that happen? The weeks seem to be whizzing by, with a lot going on! First, thank you to Kindle Mojo for listing Rock Star's Girl today, and thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read Rock Star's Girl. A special thank you goes out to those of you who have been so kind and thoughtful as to leave a rating or review, or to send me an email letting me know that you read it. I appreciate all of you incredibly much, and I don't think I can ever say that enough.
Last weekend was Halloween weekend, which is always a spectacular event here in La La Land. Did you know that Hollywood has a silly string law that goes into effect from midnight on October 31 until noon on November 1, every year? I didn't, until a friend of mine posted this photo on Facebook:

It's a real sign, and a real law! This entertained me for hours.
The day after we were out of the silly string danger zone, I was driving in Burbank and noticed that Christmas decorations are already up. It's that time of year already! I officially began my Christmas shopping this weekend. Am I ahead or behind on Christmas shopping? It's hard to tell.
I'm looking forward to spending time with loved ones over the holidays, and also to getting a lot done on my second novel. I get to write bits and pieces each day right now, and I'm truly excited about sharing this story with the world.
Happy November, everyone. Sending you all much love and light.
