About this author

Richelle is native to the Pacific Northwest, born in Utah but raised and residing in Washington State. She currently lives with her husband and three sons somewhere in a compromise between country and city living.

She completed two bachelors degrees through Eastern Washington University: Liberal Studies and Natural Science / Mathematics Education.

Accompanying her love of science is true talent in the arts. Interest in drawing was encouraged at a young age, enabling her to win a handful of youth art contests. Classes in art, drama, piano, ballet, and choir granted opportunity to perform in high school and college plays where she won a lead role in ‘Flowers for Algernon’. Every creative endeavor has worked to feed an overactive imagination,...more

Truthfully, I've never had to deal with writer's block; I always have something brewing in my head waiting to be written down. There are times when the words flow more easily, but I write regardless, knowing that I can edit a manuscript later.

One thing I naturally do is switch frequently between two or three works in progress. I might type out five chapters in one book and then set it aside to write a few chapters in another. I believe this helps to avoid writer's block. If I'm not sure where to go with a developing story, I work on a different book until inspiration sorts out the hazy details.

Writer's block or not, I think you must sit down and write because great ideas emerge as you're engaged in the process.(less)

“Don't ever give up.
Don't ever give in.
Don't ever stop trying.
Don't ever sell out.
And if you find yourself succumbing to one of the above for a brief moment,
pick yourself up, brush yourself off, whisper a prayer, and start where you left off.
But never, ever, ever give up.”
Richelle E. Goodrich, Eena, The Tempter's Snare

“There are many who don't wish to sleep for fear of nightmares. Sadly, there are many who don't wish to wake for the same fear.”
Richelle E. Goodrich, Dandelions: The Disappearance of Annabelle Fancher

“Perhaps, if you weren't so busy regarding my shortcomings, you'd find that I do possess redeeming qualities, discreet as they may be.  I notice when the sky is blue.  I smile down at children.  I laugh at any innocent attempt at humor.  I quietly carry the burdens of others as though they were my own.  And I say 'I'm sorry' when you don't.  I am not without fault, but I am not without goodness either.”

“There are things
that make no sense,
that seem unreal,
that can’t be grasped

or explained,
that maybe don’t even exist…
And still, somehow, those wonderful things touch and change our lives.
Isn’t it strange?”
Richelle E. Goodrich, Secrets of a Noble Key Keeper
