About this author

Benson Bruno is, like all people, a man of his time, and his writings express his bitterness at not being able to afford a decent karat of gold toilet seat.

He was born in a small town that he's never seen to a Navy man and a Lutheran organist. Benson's father, a practical man, tried to teach him the value of fixing things yourself, table manners, choosing a major with career prospects - and failed. His mother made him musical, despite an obvious lack of talent in that field. In school he accrued average grades, until he got to college, where he accrued average debt, and decided to drop out of grad school before regressing entirely to the mean. With few opportunities and no ambition, he decided to become an artist.

1) Jarod Kintz: "In the Book of Revelation, God speaks of the pale horse. If Satan hired you to ghostwrite the Book of Sunscreen, would you accept the job?"

If I were a ghost, how would I hold a pencil? I guess that could be my eternal punishment in hell: in life, he shut himself up in a dark room to write, neglecting others, and now in death he composes the story of his vitamin D deficiency whi... Read more of this blog post »

The Mandrake Hotel and Resort to violence if necessary by Jarod Kintz
Mr. Kintz is a unique voice in American fiction, and this is his most narratively cohesive book to date. A novella broken up into short chapters fully of witty dialogue to keep the reader moving along. It can be read in one sitting, so it doesn’t pla...more

This Book is Not for Sale
by Jarod Kintz (Goodreads Author)
I was really disappointed that this book wasn't for sale, until I illegally downloaded it. Then after I finished it, I said to myself, ‘Hey, that wasn't Jarod's book I read at all. That was a porno.' You'd think the fake breasts would have thrown me...more

Love Quotes for the Ages. Specifically Ages 19-91. by Dark Jar Tin Zoo
I thought I knew what love was with Jarod Kintz's book ‘Love Quotes For the Ages, Specifically Ages 18 - 81.'

But I was wrong. Because since reading Dark Jar Tin Zoo's new book, I've realized that,

Love quotes for the ages. Specifically ages 18-81. by Jarod Kintz
Jarod Kintz talks about love in ways I never thought were possible, and am pretty sure still aren't. If you need some ideas about love, read this book. If you memorize these quotes and repeat them everywhere in public, the opposite sex will flock to...more

Six Foot and Some Change by Jarod Kintz
To say that this is a funny book would be an understatement. This is a funny life. Jarod Kintz is bearing himself here in all his shame and glory – and the least we can do is point and laugh at his pale nakedness.

If you’re only familiar with Jarod’s...more
More of Benson's books…
“One day you’re innocent, then circumstances find you in an unlikely situation and you wonder how you could have been so stupid. I suppose I should be thankful. Being framed for a crime is all a part of growing up.”
Benson Bruno, A Story That Talks about Talking Is Like Chatter to Chattering Teeth, and Every Set of Dentures Can Attest to the Fact That No.

“The second you think a situation is hopeless, it suddenly loses all meaning. A situation is just a case, condition, or state of affairs. It only becomes hopeless when you need to define an explanation.”
Benson Bruno

“The man of knowledge must be able not only to love his enemies but also to hate his friends.”
Friedrich Nietzsche

“We are unknown to ourselves, we men of knowledge - and with good reason. We have never sought ourselves - how could it happen that we should ever find ourselves? It has rightly been said: "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also"; our treasure is where the beehives of our knowledge are.”
Friedrich Nietzsche, On the Genealogy of Morals

“Success has always been the greatest liar - and the "work" itself is a success; the great statesman, the conqueror, the discoverer is disguised by his creations, often beyond recognition; the "work," whether of the artist or the philosopher, invents the man who has created it, who is supposed to have create it; "great men," as they are venerated, are subsequent pieces of wretched minor fiction”
Friedrich Nietzsche, Beyond Good and Evil

“The only artists I have ever known who are personally delightful are bad artists. Good artists exist simply in what they make, and consequently are perfectly uninteresting in what they are. A great poet, a really great poet, is the most unpoetical of all creatures. But inferior poets are absolutely fascinating. The worse their rhymes are, the more picturesque they look. The mere fact of having published a book of second-rate sonnets makes a man quite irresistible. He lives the poetry that he cannot write. The others write the poetry that they dare not realize.”
Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray

“An intellectual is a person who has discovered something more interesting than sex.”
Aldous Huxley
