Michael J. Roueche, author of Beyond the Wood grew up in Virginia. Always a romantic, only in more recent years did he discover the Civil War, thanks to Bruce Catton books and Michael Schaara’s Killer Angels. He and his wife of 35 years now live in Colorado, where they enjoy hiking and exploring the High Plains and Rocky Mountains, with their alpine vistas, aspen groves and evergreen forests, and amazing wildlife. They have five children and several grandchildren.

He blogs on the Civil War and Shakespeare. (He's currently reading all of Shakespeare to mark the Bard's 450th anniversary.)

Reviews of Beyond the Wood:

The Denver Post
“War, romance and mystery collide in this deeply researched Civil War novel….”

Midwest Book Review
