I started a love affair with pottery in 2008. I made this pear, which was thrown on the wheel as a closed shape. Once it had set up, I carved the round door and added the hinge hardware.
People ask me what this sculpture means. The truth is, I don’t know. I like pears and round doors. I made it because the idea popped into my head one day. Perhaps it is the secret home of a pixie.
