About this author

I live near San Francisco where I focus on a career in fiction writing. The Weathering is my second novel and my first trilogy. I have an extensive background in creative writing and social science. The Weathering is horror and science fiction, my two favorite genres. My first novel, This Shadow Follows Me, hit the shelves in 2011 where it was followed with immense controversy. I write to cause change and poignancy for readers. I want the reader to experience different realms of their own thoughts. I will change the world by my writings as I know we all change the world with each step we make.

Enjoy the adventure of your life our little monsters.

Happy songs are in your voice.
Happy, let your heart come out with no choice.

Smiles are all around you, catch them with your eyes.
Smiles are our way to combat the hurt we despise.

The day is what we make. The battle is to not let it be fake.

We have each other, we hug and we love. Our antidote is a kiss that fits like a glove.

I cried last night, it hurt with great might.

It was something I h... Read more of this blog post »

“Zombies are not just fictional creatures that devour the flesh of the living. They also include those who follow the words of others without thinking for themselves. This world is falling apart. I don’t think anyone can disagree with that. People live in their twenty-mile-radius realities and don’t notice the world happening around them, until it finally breaks down their front door.”
Joseph McGinnis, The Weathering, Dawn of the Apocalypse

“As the night air started to creep in, he lifted her in his arms and walked the back way to their home on campus. He spent the evening digging her grave, not even caring who came his way. He didn’t care whether he lived or died, now that he had lost his only love. Mike glanced into her face one more time, and then covered her with dirt. “We bury our own. We take care of the ones we love.” He spoke softly, then placed a flower on her grave and made his way back to their dorm room.”
Joseph McGinnis, The Weathering, Dawn of the Apocalypse

“A couple hours went by, and the storm began to turn back to the sea. The dark clouds rolled away, leaving white, fluffy ones in their place. We were safe, and the rock in the distance was still there. We stepped out of the car and walked over to the rock, noticing the families of seals were back again. The seals were strong and ready to make it through any storm that would fall their way. My parents’ love was still there; that is what love means. I envy that love, and I hoped to find it someday... and I did.”
Joseph McGinnis, This Shadow Follows Me

“It's not my victory, it's yours and yours and yours. If a gay can win, it means there is hope that the system can work for all minorities if we fight. We've given them hope.”
Harvey Milk

“Lots of people hate gay people.
You can tell who they are because they start sentences with, "It's not like I hate gay people.”
Ali Liebegott

“I was like, Am I gay? Am I straight? And I realized...I'm just slutty. Where's my parade?”
Margaret Cho

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.”
Bernard M. Baruch

Joseph McGinnis Very cool. I was reading your profile. Reading is amazing. I do have an 80 page rule however. If I can't get into the book by page 80 I put it down. Christine wrote: "Your welcome and I'm a teacher's helper and i love reading books"

David I am a member of a gay book discussion group in New York City. In our meeting tonight we discussed "Cry To Heaven" by Anne Rice. Everybody who attended liked the book. If you send me a copy, and I like your book, I will recommend it for the group to read it.
