About this author

I was born in Sandy, Utah, a few days before Halloween in 1989. I lived in Salt Lake City until I was about six, and then I moved North and settled into the place I still call home. I'm the second child of ten, and I absolutely love being the big sister.
I can't remember a time when I didn't enjoy reading, and I did a lot of it. I also dabbled in writing when I was young, though nothing serious until I entered the teenage years. Becoming an author is a dream come true!
I attended Snow College, and there got the best job ever as a writing tutor. I graduated in May 2011 with my Associate of Science, and am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science as an English Major.
I love movies, music, and books—although I do think that the dumbest ques

I just barely finished publishing "Asides", a short story collection which includes a fun and exciting Seers Trilogy prequel.

I am currently agent hunting with an urban fantasy I'm very excited about.

I am also making excellent progress on a medieval fantasy, which thrills me, because medieval fantasy is my favorite!

I'm slowly plugging along at another couple of scattered novels as well. (Plugging along basically means I write bits and pieces as they come to me, and then I obsess about the plots and characters constantly. Every once in a while--while eating, driving, or cleaning my house--I might have a sudden epiphany that gets me so excited I nearly squeal aloud.)(less)

The medium doesn't matter much: a movie or TV show, a book or a play, a song or--best of all--a sudden thought that begins with the intriguing words, "what if?"

Less poetically speaking, when I seek inspiration I ask a lot of questions. I usually start with a character or two, and then I put them into all sorts of impossible situations and see what happens.(less)

My short story collection "Asides" will be coming out in December, which isn't far away, but I'd love to share some of it with you now.

"Asides" has eight short stories, two of which are Seers extras. "The New Partner" is the longest piece in the collection, which I think readers will be fine with since it is a prequel to "Seers" with Toni as the narrator. It takes place in New York in 1987 and... Read more of this blog post »

I keep vacillating between 4.5 and 5 full stars. I really, really liked this one. I mean, I'm totally in love with the Scarlet Pimpernel, so that got me super excited for this book. And, luckily, it didn't fall flat. The story was imaginative, even i ...more

Mechele Hey Heather, Thanks for the add :)

Thanks for the comment! I love the Fall, so I love my birthday season. I'm kind of a whimp when it comes to scary stuff, though, so Halloween sometimes freaks me out....but I love dressing up in costume, so I guess things even out! lol.

Hello Christy! I'm glad you like GoodReads--it's one of my favorite places to hang out online. :) I enjoyed our chat at the library, and I'm glad to know you remember me, and that you enjoyed Seers. Have you seen the cover art for Demons (book two) yet? Thanks so much for your kind comments. I'm doing really well. Better, now that school is out. I hope your life is going splendidly, and I look forward to meeting you again--cuz I'm sure I'll be back in Ephraim again, once book two is out. :)
Take care!
Heather

Hey Jennifer! So glad to hear you enjoyed Seers--I'm a bit partial, but I love it too. :) Book two--Demons--will be released this September. I'll be unveiling the cover pretty soon, and there will be a blog tour during the summer so you can get a preview of what's to come! To stay up on things and connect with other Seers fans, you should definitely check out the official facebook page for Seers: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Seers-T....
