About this author

Mark Hainds is Research Coordinator for The Longleaf Alliance (LLA) and a Research Associate with Auburn University (AU). He is a lifelong hunter, fisherman, and trapper. He has studied and worked on the longleaf ecosystem for approximately two decades. Through his full-time positions with the LLA, he travels the natural range of longleaf pine from southeast Virginia to eastern Texas. He instructs landowners, biologists, foresters, and land managers on the most up-to-date methods for restoring and managing the longleaf ecosystem. In his spare time Mark collects, eats, and sells wild fruits, berries, and herbs at the Palafox Farmers Market in Pensacola, Florida.
