John Shelley began illustrating in London before settling in Japan for over 20 years, where he worked extensively on commercial illustration campaigns, in addition to producing a string of children's books for Western and Japanese publishers. As an author his picture books include Hoppy no Atarashii Uchi (Fukuinkan Shoten) and The House of the World (Benesse). Now back in the UK, he continues to work internationally for a broad range of publishers.

Bilingual in Japanese, he's a former Board member of the Society of
Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), is a member of the
Association of Illustrators (AOI) and the Society of Authors (SOA).

Recent Doodles

It's not just people sketching this Spring, I've been flexing the imagination as well.

These little sketchbook doodles are actually derived from real life. I bought a new bicycle recently, really. It doesn't look quite like this, but this is how I feel when I ride it.

Daughter really, really, REALLY wants a pet. Something cuddly and furry.
