about this author
John Shelley began illustrating in London before settling in
Japan for over 20 years. He recieved numerous awards for commercial illustration in Tokyo in
addition to producing a string of childrens books for Western and Japanese
markets. As an author his picture books include Hoppy no Atarashii Uchi (Fukuinkan Shoten) and The House of the World (Benesse). He returned to the UK in 2008.
Bilingual in Japanese, he stands on the Board of Advisors of the Society of
Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), is a member of the
Association of Illustrators (AOI) and the Society of Authors (SOA).
