Hey Jeanette,

Thanks so much! I actually came up with the idea when I was at VCFA for my MFA. I had started my second semester with Ellen Howard and she asked me to abandon what I had been working on the previous semester and focus on writing something closer to me. She told me to try writing something that showed what I know about life. I didn't know much about life being a recent graduate of undergrad and barely entering the "real world." But I thought, well, I know about sisters, and I know about family, and I know about missing home. Those things spun through my head until Maple's voice arrived, saying "It all starts at home. On the mountain."
And that was the spark!(less)
