Only many years later did she learn about the original people of Los Angeles, the Tongva, who had been driven to near extinction over the last four and a half centuries by the Spanish and other conquerors. She wished to honor the Tongva and let more people know about them through her story, which is set in...more

This was a wonderful, surprising, gritty, satisfying book. The first few reviews describe it very well and I won't attempt to describe it further. Very very well written.

W.B. Yeats
“Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.”
W.B. Yeats, The Collected Poems

W.B. Yeats
“Faeries, come take me out of this dull world,
For I would ride with you upon the wind,
Run on the top of the dishevelled tide,
And dance upon the mountains like a flame.”
W.B. Yeats, The Land of Heart's Desire

W.B. Yeats
“I bring you with reverent hands
The books of my numberless dreams.”
W.B. Yeats

W.B. Yeats
“I will arise and go now,
And go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there,
Of clay and wattles made;
Nine bean rows will I have there,
A hive for the honey bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.

And I shall have some peace there,
For peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning
To where the cricket sings;
There midnight's all a glimmer,
And noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet's wings

I will arise and go now,
For always night and day
I hear lake water lapping
With low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway
Or on the pavements gray,
I hear it in the deep heart's core.”
W.B. Yeats

Hi Sara, I just wanted to drop you a quick line and let you know that there have recently been two favorable reviews posted on my book, in case you hadn't seen them. Well, this is exciting for a new author, I have to say. Hope you're having a good reading summer. I'm working my day job, so the only summery part to it is the heat! LOL!
