About this author

Bill Campbell is a native of Pittsburgh and an alumnus of Northwestern University. Throughout his varied and illustrious career, he has done everything from assembling Christmas toys in Cleveland; loading trucks, bookkeeping, and being an AmeriCorps volunteer in Atlanta; coordinating an elementary school literacy program in D.C. to teaching English as a second language in the Czech Republic. He's also the former publisher of the independent magazine, Contraband, and the music trade magazine, CD Revolutions.

Bill came out with Sunshine Patriots, a semi-satirical, military sf novel, back in 2004. My Booty Novel, which he likes to call "fluff for nerds," came out in 2007. His new book, Pop Culture: Politics, Puns, and "Poohbutt" from a Liberal...more

Description: Thirty-two-year-old writer, Damian Cross, has just returned from a disastrous first book tour only to be dumped by his fiancée. Now newly-single for the first time in seven years, he has to pick up the pieces, start his life all over again, and write a second novel. Damian blogs his way through today's dating scene and all its hazards—online dating, biological clocks, single mothers and their children, well-meaning friends, ex-girlfriends, and his meddling, matchmaking cousin—to find that the only thing that stands between him and success may actually be himself. Can Damian stop his world from crumbling around him and get it together in time to gain a chance at true happiness and write the “booty novel” everyone's telling him to write?
Sunshine Patriots (Science Fiction & Fantasy)
1 chapters   —   updated Mar 29, 2010 04:32pm
Description: Rebellion erupts on the "paradise" planet of Elysia, plunging the colony into chaos. In response, the all-powerful United Earth dispatches its elite corps of cyborg soldiers, led by Aaron "The Berber" Barber. For a hero celebrated galaxy-wide for his acts of bravery against alien hordes, a ragtag group of colonized miners with antiquated weapons should be no challenge. But Barber and his soldiers are unprepared to meet the most dangerous enemy yet--humans just like them. And on Elysia, the soldiers discover dangers that neither United Earth nor the Elysians themselves could have foreseen. The secrets Barber and his soldiers uncover lead them to question the true meaning of freedom in a world where nothing is what it seems.

I Didn't Ask to Be Born by Bill Cosby
Well, this definitely is not Cos at his best. He does meander a bit, but it's funny enough. I'd say pick it up if you've got nothing better to do and want to kill some time with a light read.

Warchild (Warchild, #1)

This is only the second book of hers that I've read, but I gotta admit that there's a depth to Karin Lowachee's work that I really enjoy. She's a real gift to the genre.

Not really into marketing books. But this one was written enough for a general audience that I found it somewhat interesting.

Marvel Comics by Sean Howe
As an old comics fan, this was a really fun read. While it definitely doesn't make me want to work for Marvel any time soon, it did make me want to produce a graphic novel, or two, ASAP.

Man in the Empty Suit by Sean Ferrell
Man in the Empty Suit
by Sean Ferrell (Goodreads Author)
read in April, 2013
Intelligent time-traveling stories are really hard to pull off. I would not say that Ferrell pulls it off seamlessly. There will be times when one might very well get confused. But this was, indeed, a fun story. I enjoyed it cover to cover.

Carrie Good morning Bill!

How are you?

I was supposed to send this message with your invitation....yes well....I am not so good with computer skills (which is pretty evident)....so here it is!

Greetings from England!

I am sorry I have been so busy on promotions and rarely get the pleasure to indulge myself on this site but I just wanted to invite you personally to listen to the BBC, who invited both myself and 8 Joni-Pip avids to appear on their show Go4it!

It's probably impossible to listen to the BBC in your neck of the woods but I wanted to invite you anyway.

I hope all is going spiffingly with you!

Carrie

Erin I worked for AmeriCorps too! It's still one of the best things I've ever done.

Jeremy I want to apologize for the all the recommendations from me yesterday. I wanted to share the Stoker Award news, and I only pressed the send button once--I'm not sure what happened to create so many messages. Some weird glitch.

Argh...this is terrible...

Again, I'm very sorry.

Jeremy Here’s wishing you a nifty New Year filled with noiseless noses, neato nicknames, noble Nebraskans, gnarly narcoleptic nebulas, and novel novels about nut-eating narwhals and novercaphobic gnats.

-Jeremy :)

P.S.—I’m currently offering autographed/personally-inscribed copies of my novel, Vacation, with free shipping for those in the US. If there’s anything you could do to help me spread the word about this, I’d really appreciate it. Feel free to click here for details:

Jeremy Hi Bill!

Here’s wishing you a yippee-filled Yuletime overflowing with yard-long yams, yapping yoyo-yanking yetis, yak-milk yeast-cakes, and yellow yarn-yielding year-end yard-gnomes.

-Jeremy :)

Jeremy Thanks for sharing, Bill! I really appreciate it. INVISIBLE MAN is quite the awesome novel.

Happytimes,
Jeremy :)

Jeremy Hi Bill!

If you don't mind sharing--I was wondering, what's your favorite novel of all time?

Here’s wishing you a fantastic day filled with fabulous friendships, fanciful festivities, and frolicking phantom footstools.

-Jeremy :)
