About this author

Historical romance author Theresa Romain pursued an impractical education that allowed her to read everything she could get her hands on. She then worked for universities and libraries, where she got to read even more. Eventually she started writing, too. She lives with her family in the Midwest.

Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. “What Louisa wants for Christmas,
Get kissed
Find some good books
make peace between prior best friends
convince the polite world of her charm
and finally, get kissed some more;

"You're blushing, my girl," Lady Irving said, "Not thinking of something you shouldn't, are you?"
"I'm so pure-minded that I can't imagine what you're talking about." Louisa lied.”

Hi, Lucinda--thanks for finding me! I love history too and always love to chat about books. I do most of my posting within this romance discussion group: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/3... It's a private group, but the moderators allow membership to anyone who requests it. Lots of history fans over there, too.

Best wishes and happy reading!
Theresa

Lucinda Dear Theresa,
Thank you for being my friend here on Goodreads. I adore historical fiction (from Diana Gabaldon, to Susan Fraser king and Anne Clinard Barnhill to Ken Follett to name but a few of my favorites), hence i do hope to be able to read some of your work in the future.
Thank you and i very much look forward to future book discussions.

Kind Regards
