Riel Nason grew up in Hawkshaw, New Brunswick, Canada not far from the shore of the St. John River. She now lives in Quispamsis, NB with her husband, seven-year-old son and five-year-old daughter.

The Town That Drowned is Riel's debut novel. It won the 2012 Margaret and John Savage First Book Award and the 2012 Commonwealth Book Prize for the Canada and Europe region. She is currently working on her second novel.
