I feel like I just ran a marathon and I’m still a little winded, but here goes:

Over the weekend, during a wildly successful Amazon campaign, Amaranth made it to #1 on the Romance Fantasy Bestseller Free List and #8 on The Top 100 Bestseller Free List. It shot to #1 on the Romance Fantasy list the very first day of the campaign, with over 13,000 downloads in 24 hours and almost 25,000 downloads in 2 days. Following the campaign, it made it to #15 on the Top 100 Bestseller Fantasy Romance Paid List. *catches breath*

So to celebrate, The Gates, book 2 in the series, will release TODAY, a week early. Many of you have been leaving Facebook comments and Tweets about book #2, and because I know you’ve been waiting so patiently and have been such a huge catalyst for the success of the beginning of this series, I tip my hat to you, lovely readers and bloggers, for being the best badass support system an indie author could ever ask for. Absolutely none of this success could have been possible without you. Every tweet, every FB share, every blog comment, every Goodreads blog “like”…all of it was necessary to make this happen. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Without further ado…The Gates is available HERE in paperback or Kindle.

Much love,

Rachael

Some endings were never ours to begin with.

Repossession (The Keepers Trilogy, #1)

description

So…I know sharing details about a new series I have in the works is probably the very last thing I should be doing considering I haven’t said a thing about the final installment of the Resistance series. Speaking of…I’ll do that now.

The Tragedy of Knowledge is underway and is still set for a tentative October 25th release date. I might *might* be going to Louisiana this summer to hang out and draw some more inspiration from Camille’s hometown for the ending. The cover was revealed not long ago. I love it. I’m excited to spend some more time with Camille and Gavin and the gang.

However…

I’m also working on a new post-apocalyptic sci-fi romance series. Yeah, that’s a mouthful, I know. But I am beyond excited. Excited to take a break from the paranormal.

Just. So. Excited.

In a nutshell, this will be an epic romance series with high fantasy, sci-fi, and some post-apocalyptic action. If you’re a regular on my FB page, you might have noticed I’m a bit of an Alien/Ridley Scott junkie–well, more like a massive one. I love alien story lines. Especially when they involve invasion or humans going to space to have a nice meal only to end up dealing with rascally little chest bursters before they make it to dessert.

If I’m talking a lot about aliens, it’s because…well, this series involves them. And no, not in the take-us-to-your-leader-earthling kinda way. No gooey green creatures running around abducting people with shiny lights or lasers. And if the alien thing isn’t out there enough (pun intended da-doon-shhh), then throw in some Greek mythology, Lost City of Atlantis influences, and some kick ass heroes and heroines, and you have…The Keepers Trilogy.

Confused? No worries. Cover reveal and full blurb coming soon.

Coming Winter 2012. Add to your Goodreads to-read pile here:

Repossession (The Keepers Trilogy, #1) by Rachael Wade

A Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi Romance Series

Check out the cover here.

Skylla only knows that she has been kidnapped and held hostage by the foreign invaders and their human allies. And that the world is ending. Or so the humans think. The invaders have made it clear that their arrival is one of hostile intent, and as their takeover spreads, so does the panic across the globe. No one knows how to defeat them, or if it’s even sane to try.

Jet, Skylla’s human captor, is up for the challenge, though. A traitor in Skylla’s eyes, he is working with them. But Jet has his own agenda; one that doesn’t include babysitting Skylla or helping the enemies. And as the human race struggles to keep the invaders from achieving their goal, Jet and Skylla’s paths collide to reveal the truth behind Skylla’s abduction.

The invaders are headed for the water. Jet is headed for the water. But that’s the last place Skylla wants to be. That’s where the future of humanity lies, and where the bridge to their yesterdays was burned. On a mission to take back what is rightfully theirs, Earth’s population is determined to make sure this isn’t the end. But some endings were never theirs to begin with.

It feels like it’s been a long time since I’ve blogged about anything other than the crazy tour schedules I’ve been immersed in and all of the exciting bestselling news for my latest releases. As fun as all that’s been the past 9 months…I need a break. Like, I feel like I could take a three-month long vacation on a tropical island somewhere and just sleep for weeks straight. That’s how exhausted I am from the past year. Between writing, editing, revising, touring, marketing, running contests, reading and reviewing books, and planning new series and releases…my mind is fried and it’s time to step away from it all for a bit.

That being said, I won’t be stepping away from the writing itself. Over the next few months, I just won’t be on-line much. I’ll be hiding away to spend the summer working on The Tragedy of Knowledge (book 3 of The Resistance Trilogy) and Repossession, book 1 of my upcoming series, The Keepers Trilogy. Holed up in my reclusive bubble, I foresee a lot of pajama, bedhead-hair-wearing, Dorito-stained t-shirt kinda days in the future.

Yes. Let the slob-mode commence.

But I look forward to shutting down the internet and just spending some time in solitude with my characters and their stories. The other motivation for retreating to write is that I’m looking forward to focusing on the fantasy realm I love so much again. The need to give Gavin, Camille, and the gang their ending is really gnawing at me, and my head is completely consumed with The Keepers trilogy right now. Preservation was a nice temporary departure from the fantasy world, but it was just that–-a temporary departure.

I haven’t talked much about that, so I guess I should mention that I’ll be writing more contemporary romance in the future, but Preservation specifically was really just a random, experimental project for me. I didn’t over-think it. I just wrote. I just had fun with it. Yes, it went through a few drafts and the typical editing and revising process, but as far as the general storyline went, I didn’t over-analyze everything when I worked on it. It was just a natural, raw, liberating project. It’s a very personal story and was cathartic for me to write, and I wrote it for myself. The idea that some readers might enjoy it was a plus, so I released it and decided to let the chips fall where they may. So far, the reception has been interesting, forming this weird polar divide. Some love it and some hate it. It’s been really fun to watch such a wide range of opinions emerge. I’m thankful to anyone who has taken the time to read it. And to those who took the departure from Fantasy Land with me to try out this standalone contemporary romance? You rock! Thanks to you, Preservation made it to #3 on Amazon’s Top 100 Bestseller List and #2 on the Contemporary Romance Bestseller List.

So, until my next trek over to Contemporary Romance Land, I’m off to the bayou and headed straight for Amaranth before I make a pitstop to confront an alien invasion in post-apocalyptic America. ;) See you all soon and have a great summer!

Much love,

Rachael
