Ysella Ayn Fulton grew-up in the Mesilla Valley of Southern New Mexico and El Paso, Texas. She attended Cardinal Newman College to learn the classics and received her MFA in Creative Writing at American University to learn to write. In between she worked as a restaurant hostess, at a TV station, at the Folger Shakespeare Library, the White House, Funshine Daycare, and a law firm at the Watergate. She then married classical guitarist Eric Slavin and moved to Argentina where she traveled, taught English, and wrote. Currently she is an Associate professor at El Paso Community College where she teaches writing and literature.
