Chris was born and raised in Chicago. Her father was a history professor and her mother was, and is, a voracious reader. She grew up with a love of history and books. Her parents also love traveling, a passion they passed onto her. She wanted to see the places she read about, see the land and monuments from the time periods that fascinated her. She’s had the good fortune to travel extensively throughout Europe, the Near East, and North Africa. She is also a retired police detective who spent twenty-five years in law enforcement with two different agencies. Her desire to write came in her early teens. After she retired, she decided to pursue that dream. She writes two different series. Her paranormal romance series is called, Knights in Time ...more

"Oozing with sexual tension that only the Victorian era can inspire, this is a mystery about multiple murders. From mistresses to garment workers, someone is strangling women.

Chris liked a quote
Silk by Chris Karlsen
“Faith leaned closer, inches from his face, her loips a hands breadth from his. She shook her head side to side a bit faster than the average metronome and waggled a finger back and forth. "They not going to find out though, are they?
He stared into merry eyes almost as dark as his coffee. The devil was a woman and Faith one of her most beautiful minions.”

Silk by Chris Karlsen
“I see. Because I'm not hideous, not a drunkard, and appear to bathe regularly, you picked me. How you flatter me.”

More of Chris's books…
“With little effort, he rolled his late lover off the edge of the cliff and watched, grimacing, when her dainty body bounced off a rocky outcropping. True, he planned on packing her back to France, or to another of his associates. And true, he didn't see her death as a great loss, but he wouldn't have wished her bashed on the rocks, even in death. However, this was the most expedient way to rid himself of an inconveniently dead mistress.”
Chris Karlsen, Silk

“Tonight, I'd like to fuck like every other bloody Englishman, with you on your back and me on top groaning and pumping away for a minute or so, then a nice sleep."
A sneer touched the edge of her mouth, then Isabeau laughed. "You English, you are so uninspired, a pity for your women. My soul cries for them."
"Yes, unimaginative lot that we are, we have somehow managed to colonize much of the world.”
Chris Karlsen, Silk

“I wish you'd let my missus introduce you to one of her available lady friends."
"Absolutely not. I appreciate the thought, but no. I'm not lonely or starved for feminine companionship."
"What if I guarantee Margaret won't pester you with matchmaker questions?"
"You cannot guarantee such a thing. She will pester me. It is a woman's nature.”
Chris Karlsen, Silk

“...Milton being my favorite."
"By your favorite, do you mean his entire works or 'Paradise Lost?'"
"'Paradise Lost.' I enjoy all his work, but that one the most 'The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a Heaven of Hell, a 'Hell of Heaven.'" He could almost see the wheels and gears of her feminine mind turn,l reducing Milton's presumption or in the case of 'Paradise Lost,' Satan's, to a philosophy she could understand.
