About this author

Markelle Grabo was born on January 18, 1994. At an early age she took to reading, spending countless hours devouring book after book. In fifth grade, she decided that she wanted to be like the authors she favored. She wanted to tell her own stories. An avid lover of fantasy, she typed out idea after idea, however, nothing was substantial enough to call a novel. On Easter morning of her freshman year in high school, she looked back on an old idea for a story about a girl who didn't know she was an elf and had to travel to a magical world in order to learn her destiny. I am so pleased to announce that The Stolen Child was recently awarded for excellence in independent publishing by the New Apple Book Awards! I'm very excited because, for me, The Stolen Child is the best (and most challenging) novel I've written thus far. It's also great to see a shiny foil sticker on the cover - definitely a highlight of my writing career.

Really loved the first book, but the main character's repeatedly poor choices this time around made the sequel difficult to get on board with. Hoping for a better round three.

The ending really let me down. So bothered.

“I hate going through this when we just found...," his voice trailed off.
"Found what?"
"Each other," he finished, half-smiling.”

“Then I wondered, what if?
What if he kissed me? What if he told me I was beautiful? What if he told me he loved me?
What would I say in return?”

“Drop something?" he asked, trying to suppress a smile but failing miserably at the act.
I nodded and smiled back at him sheepishly, unable to find my voice to respond in any other way.
"Interested in locks, I see," he commented.
I nodded again.
"Well, here you go," he said, and he handed the book to me.
I nodded.
Oh crap, why did I just nod? Take the book! I screamed inside my head. Take it!
I took it slowly. He kept looking at me, smiling.”

“The last book I picked up had a picture of the Stranger on the front cover. Although his eyes were not nearly as beautiful in my dream state, they still took my breath away. I opened it up curiously and there was one word written in a large, bolded font: FATE.”
