Biography
I suppose story telling began, for me, before I could actually put a pen to paper and create words. When I was very little I loved books but I didn't know how to read so I would take picture books and I would look at the pictures to come up with an idea of the story. I remember studying my mother's childhood copy of the Pied Piper and concluding that the Piper was a talented musician that everyone followed like fans followed Michael Jackson and Kurt Cobain. Imagine my surprise the first time I actually read the story...I wasn't too far off.:) That process, strange as it was, was the beginning of my story telling.
When I was twelve I started writing my first full length (though poorly written)book. The subject ma

I am now making videos on youtube. I talk about writing, Wicca/Witchcraft/Paganism, illness, and, occasionally, I go on a political rant (about current issues...not about political parties) so if any of this sounds interesting to you, please check out my channel. Keair Snyder is on page 140 of 384 of Truth or Dare: I'm reading it slowly but surely. It's a good book. I just need like ten more hours in a day to read right now. lol By the way, did they take away the option to send all authors friend requests? I've noticed it when I look through author's pages. If they did and you want to be my friend, just write me and I'll send one to you. I love new goodreads friends as much as I love old ones. :)

“the feeling of a steering wheel under one’s hand, the ability to pick up a receiver and call someone miles away, knowing that a train could carry you to see a friend in a fraction of the time horse travel would have taken, all of this somehow made the world seem smaller. When people saw the world as a smaller place would they finally realize that each person, each creature they shared it with was indeed a neighbor and that hatred without just cause was indeed destructive?”

“In spite of all the refinements of civilization that conspired to make art--the dizzying perfection of the string quartet or the sprawling grandeur of Fragonard's canvases--beauty was savage. It was as dangerous and lawless as the earth had been eons before man had one single coherent thought in his head or wrote codes of conduct on tablets of clay. Beauty was a Savage Garden.”

“I reached maturity under the impression that I was gathering the experience to order my life for happiness. Indeed, I accomplished the not unusual feat of solving each question in my mind long before it presented itself to me in life—and of being beaten and bewildered just the same.”

Will do! I can't tell you how many books I've discovered and rediscovered by looking at the bookshelves of my friends on here. And I absolutely love quotes. I collect them in a notebook because I find such inspiration in them so I will definitely check out those you have. Thanks for accepting my request. I will check him out. I am currently reading King's book Doctor Sleep and if you liked The Shining and you haven't read Doctor Sleep yet, I highly recommend it. I was a little worried about the way it might turn out because it has been so long since the original but this is one sequel that is every bit as good as the original. I picked it up from the library yesterday and I'm on page 350 because I can't put it down. It is one of those books that you schedule your day around reading if you can get away with it. :)

Catherine Pet Cemetery stuck with me for a very long time, too! I like a lot of Stephen King's works. I'm enjoying Kealan Patrick Burke for some fresh horror/mystery. Check him out if you haven't.

Glad to make your reader friendship. Hope to trade lots of snark and smart with you!

Thank you! I am also notorious for reading ahead. I am the person that will read the last few pages of a book just to see if everything turns out alright. haha I love reading about the South. I was born and raised in Ohio but the bulk of my family originally came from Virginia and I have a life-long obsession with New Orleans so I credit these two things with my love of stories involving the south. Perhaps my love of Gone with the Wind contributed to that a bit too. lol People in the south always seem to tell the greatest stories, out loud or in print. I think it is because story telling is such a part of the culture. And I think that if a novel set in the south is done properly, it can really convey that ability. Anyway, I am glad that you liked the preview and I really hope you enjoy the book. :)

Nikki OMG girl! I was on your blog and read the extended sample for amazon and then because I'm notorious for reading ahead, I read chapter 8 on here. I was in tears after reading about Luke sending her off to live it up. Now I have to buy the book after payday to see what happens! I love your character development, the arc of the story and the real emotion behind the goodbye. I felt that I was there, watching him cry bloody tears as she slaps him.

Also, looking at your book shelves and lists...I live in the area of the Cane River and where the Ya-Ya's are from. Both are about a 45 minute drive away and before I moved back, I'd read them to 'come home'.

Nikki
