About this author

Tara Chevrestt is a deaf woman, former aviation mechanic, dog mom, writer, and editor. You’ll never see her without her Kindle or a book within reach. As a child, she would often take a flashlight under the covers to finish the recent Nancy Drew novel when she was supposed to be sleeping.

Tara is addicted to Law & Order: SVU, has a crush on Cary Grant, laughs at her own jokes, and is constantly modifying recipes and experimenting in the kitchen. Her theme is Strong is Sexy. She writes about strong women facing obstacles—in the military, with their handicaps, or just learning to accept themselves. Her heroines can stand alone and take care of themselves, but they often find love in the process.

Forward PassBig thumbs up to the author for tackling a very "sensitive" subject in the YA world...actually, two subjects: sexual abuse and sexuality.

Parmita is at a special sports-oriented school in Canada. Though months from graduating high school, she's already living away from her parents, with a family near the school, sort of like an exchange student program but there is no exchange.

“Sometimes girls, especially those whose tastes aren't routine, don't get a fair break. Too many of us have been bred to timidity. That is why those who escape must run, not stroll, toward what they desire. They mustn't look back. They mustn't question their own instincts. And they mustn't listen to the naysayers. If they can only follow their own true course, well then, they will be as renowned for their bravery as the greatest men are.”

“The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. Tara Chevrestt Friends and fellow readers, Question: Have you ever received books in the mail from publishers that (A) You never asked for. (B) Have no interest in whatsover.

I received two hardback books in the mail today. Neither one interests me in the slightest. I don't know why they were sent to me. Do I contact the publicist listed on the papers with the books and tell him I don't want them and pay my own money to ship the unwanted things back or what? I got too many books I WANT to read to waste time on books I DON'T want to read.

Help!!!

Tara Chevrestt Question for my friends: When a book 40 years old is republished by a different publisher with new cover and all that, do they also edit or change the story or prose? I've found a book I want to read and discovered it isn't new at all, but has been out 40 years and published by probably 10 or more different people. Read the new copy or old? Will anything be different?
